Basically with the guillitine you are grabbing the neck to choke. With teh front head lock you usually have one arm included trying to work towrds a cradle or just force somone to there back. So say the guy is in front of you on the mat with head down (wow that doesn't sound right does it) take your right hand under the face and grab his tricep then tighten with your left. so the lock is on the head not the neck (though the dude may be sucking air if you apply it really tight) and the purpose is not to choke but gain position and pin.

Hmmph. Do you have any education in wrestling? If so can u post some of the rules for HS wrestling? And also is High school wrestling basically Greco Roman or Freestyle? Can i do stuff like trips?

highschool wrestling is not greco roman. Highschool wrestling there are no body slams so if you pick the dude up you have to put him down a little softer than you would like and also I remember a rule against locking your hands in some kind of situation but I can't remember. You should put up a search in google for collegian rule of wrestling since I think highschool used the same kind in google.

HS wrestling is closer to free style. You can use trips if I understand to correctly. there are throws but you are responsible for your opponents safety so you can't slam. don't quote me but I think you can't lock hands after a takedown (more than 5 secs after TD). With the front headlock you should not lock your hands (just like a standup head lock). in the example I gave the left hand is just used to tighten and bring the opponents right elbow toward the left shoulder. From there try to turn him over or use the left hand to grab a leg (left if possible) and cradle or suicide throw (type of suplex).

Hey Chris you know you are right, I don't remember trying out for wrestling either just start practicing.
regarding the suplex its not the same as you think from pro wrestling. Acutally I can't think of the name but I think it is a variation of a suplex eventhough it is on the ground...I could be wrong saying suplex ususally the y are standup

I will try to help you a little. I didn't wrestle long but remember a little. First of all stay off your back, if you are on your back then bridge and hold it till you can maneveur out. Our coach didn't get real mad if you lost but if you got pinned you were screwed. Dont give up the pin there is always something you can do to get out of it. Another tip everyone thinks striking isn't allowed but a term called heavy hands is. Heavy hands is where you just more or less pummel the top of your opponents head to set him up for a take down but you can always palm heal strike him in the head just dont close your fist.

Thanks guys, it's not really a try out...i just call it that. Today sucked everyone forgot to get their physicals and permission slips signed but one person, this means we can't wrestle til someone else turns in both of the forms. Luckily I got my physical already and just need to turn in my permission form(I got my physical from a priest. He was very eager to test me for hernia. He said the only way to do it was to finger my balls:...). I'll keep you updated for tomorrow's meet...thing....Til then, More tips please.
P.S. I also showed this one kid how to do an armbar. No idea how he knew how i knew how to do one...

Dude where did you wrestle that allowed any type of strike. A cross face yes. You can "tap and go" but that is a tap, the person blinks you shoot. I honestly have never heard of heavy hands or palm heel strike for HS wrestling

Also I saw two of the guys wrestling after the meet. I found it kind of awkward. It was like they were playing slaps while they bent down. Then all of a sudden the guy does a heel pick and the other guy slams into the tile.
Also I'd like to ask, can i wear something else besides spandex? Am i allowed to wear stuff like "under armor"(I think that's what it's called)?

I just think you misunderstood what I called heavy hands you just reffered to it as something else I am positive I have never seen a match in which it wasn't used. You grab your opponents head then countinually push it down then let them pop up and as they come up you shoot. I would strike rather then push and never was penalized.

Locking Hands in Wrestling
In folkstyle (high school wrestling) you are not allowed to lock your hands when on top and riding your oppponent. You can lock your hands when your opponent stands up, on the mat in a front head lock position, or in a pinning situation.
The way that I would to fight a pummelling technique is to tie up the opponent. That way I can attempt to control the match.
