  • Just to make sure, the penetration step is the step you take with your lead leg after you change your level right?

    • I've been wondering guys, what is the best transition to a single leg? More like the position where the single leg takedowns can be executed(with your opponent's leg inbetween yours and clutched tight to your chest by both arms). Would it be better if I clinch first? Or shoot for it?

      • Getting ready for this year's season?

        • I've been hitting the gym for the past year now and I gained maybe 7 pounds of muscle. Nothing drastic. I'm working with this fellow who went to states from another school and he said he'll help me out with wrestling if I need it. Cardio wise i haven't been doing much. What do you recommend I do for cardio to prepare for wrestling season?

Hit the street. 5-7 miles a day plus interval sprints. Really push yourself on the sprints.

Forget about the scale for the time being and hit them weights hard. It will pay off in many ways down the road.

                • Oh, and if there are any clubs or pre-season unofficial practices or anything of the sort going on locally, you might want to work out a little to keep the rust off before the season officially begins.

                  • I've asked friends and checked online and in the phonebook, there is no wrestling club in my area. I know some guys that do BJJ at my gym and one state wrestler and I plan on getting any advice I can off both of them. I've been hitting the weights hard but it seems I'm stuck at 142. I originally started out at 137, went up to 144 then went back down to 142. Crazy isn't it?

Like I said, I wouldn't worry about the scale at this point. If you are workin', it will payoff eventually.

                      • I'm currently trying to get my workout down to a t. Currently I am doing Chests Monday, Back Tuesday, Biceps Wednesday, Triceps and shoulders thursday, and Friday is a do whatever day, I mainly hit the bag.

                        • Why not do compound olympic lifts? those are better for sports.

                          • You'll have to go more in depth about these compound olympic lifts, I'm still a neophyte when it comes to weight lifting.
