Here's what happened on the meet. I was up against this one kid, I felt i was prepared for anything, then all of a sudden he grabs me and starts shaking me (i was told later it was called something like a 'shark bite' or something of that sort). So I reached my left hand down to tap his right knee. He shoots his right leg back for fear of take down. I was about to go for the lateral drop but didn't feel I had the skill to do it so I just let him resume position. Later, I tried to shoot but he sprawled and i got screwed by a cradle. That shakey thing really screwd me up, anyone know some counters to it and how to do it?

Do you mean you got stuck?
Sorry, but if he can shake you around like that he may be stronger than you. My advice is: Be stronger than him.
Also, if he's really shaking you about vigorously, he might be leaving his elbows open. Work for inside control and go from there.
btw, what did you do after you shot and before you got cradled? That may be where your biggest issue lies.

I don't know if I ever experienced this "shark bite" you are refering to, but I would say stick to the basics and use stratgey. If he is stronger you are faster. Be better conditioned some people whether they are good or bad you can't pin ..fine technical fall. TD quick backpoints let him up and repeat. If somone can lock up with you, you can work the arm drag, duck unders, heaad lock, firman's, ankle picks etc. I generally wreslted between 170-188, and when I would lock up I would brutalize the neck and keep my forearm diagonal to keep control and prevent sooting. From here I would pop the opposing arm and the torque would sometime be enough to bring them down but usually I would take a leg or bear hug and trip. I don't know if this may be somwhat differnt as you are at 135
Please don't take this as an insult, but you just started instead of trying to create new moves, learn and be grounded in the present techniques. I think you should buy the books I listed previously they will help with the different moves. In your words you say you felt prepared for anything...then say you don't feel confident in your skill. This is very understandable for someone that just started. My point is just not to be cocky (ok cocky is not always bad) but don't get overconfident, it is the downfall of athletes at all levels.
BTW - is this a JV or varsity match? Sounds like regular season, not scrimmage, tournament or exhibition match.

Another good way to get books about wrestling is the library.... & they are free too! I'm guessing the books Ipon suggested all cost money. (correct me if I'm wrong about that Ipon, since I'm not willing scroll through all these replies to find out what books you suggested)
I wish I had taken wrestling in high school, but my parents were freaks about it. They thought I'd get hurt, and wouldn't let me do it. Bah.

I couldn't agree more with this. Its all about the basics. If you aren't doing a thousand or so drop steps, stand ups, arm drags, etc everyday; if you aren't working on conditioning harder than everyone else in the room---well, you get what you get...

I was reading renzo gracie's mastering jiujitsu book when i came across the clinch section. I looked at this one neck clinch transition to front headlock clinch and it seemed pretty useful. Is the neckclinch allowed in wrestling?

Also, on bottom you can sit on your and kle or sit back (pushing back and knocking your opponent over)

Dude, I think the answer is yes. But again, why would you. BJJ and wreslting, while they have some crossover techniques they are applied for a different purpose and goal. The goal of jujitsu is to injure, which is not the goal of wrestling. A front headlock is used mainly to trasition into a cradle not to choke.
