  • Rey Diogo Seminar was AWESOME!

This past weekend I hosted Rey Diogo (Carlson Gracie Team member, BJJ Black Belt.. and husband of our very own Hura).

For those of you who haven't had the opportunity to meet or train w/Rey; He is incredible. Very technical, and he has the ability to pass information to his students better then anyone i've ever worked out with. If any of you have ever paid good money to attend a seminar, and then spent 2 days learning the scissor sweep from the guard, and how to do the "oopa" escape, you know how frustrating that is. With Rey, we learned tons of advanced techniques and little tricks which raised all of our games.

The only thing better than training w/Rey was hanging out w/him. He has some great stories, and is just a really cool guy.

Maybe if you guys get to train w/Rey, you'll learn the advanced "tapa de pesca" technique. Very technical... you may not be ready for it! LOL!

All in all we had a great seminar, and a great time, and we are looking forward to our next seminar w/him.

BTW, we enjoyed having special guests Tim and Goddess (I am now privy to her TRUE IDENTITY!) (BTW guys, the name IS fitting

Thanks to all who attended, and to Hura for sharing Rey w/us for a couple of days. I am totally envious of those of you who can train daily w/Rey. If you are anywhere near his Academy and don't train w/him, you are brain damaged! LOL!

I'll post the date for the next seminar, you won't want to miss it!

I've trained with many big names in BJJ but Rey is the one instructor that has the most passion about spreading the knowledge of BJJ. Not only does Rey teach, he gives you the reasoning behind it and has the show me you know this move attitude. Rey wants you to learn, and have fun, whether you are a serious athlete going on to compete to the weekend warrior.

When you come to LA, you can train with all the well knowns but there is a reason that many fighters (some very big names in NHB) train with Rey.

        ????

        OK, My portuguese is awful...

I think it is something like "Tapa Pescoco" or something like that. Rey showed me this VERY TECHNICAL move; he used it in Chicago. I'm sure he'll know what i'm talking about.
But don't let anyone know this technique... it's too technical to counter in competition!

Really sorry I missed it. Had to go to a District Attorney's
Conference. Keep the forum informed if he comes back.

Duch Dude, I think our school can use another grappling dummy/mascot, I'm sure that you can be adopted by Hura and Rey.

I think that there is a spare dog house in the back.

                HA!

I have to second what Sweep Em said (about Rey's teaching skills).

                        He's one of the best.

Duch Dude, there might be a language syntax error in your perceptions of the ownership of the school, but I NEVER implied that it was MY school. I am not such a moron as you might think (although some will debate that) that I would ever be so egotistical to indulge my fantasies of being the owner of a BJJ school, or to have Rey Diogo as my employee.

If you re-read my post, I said OUR school, which I am a part of. Together we are a team and of course, Rey and Hura is the leadership. A new addition to our school is Andrea, a Brazilian that was recently promoted to black belt and another guy, Japa who is a brown belt. Along with Hura who is a purple belt, it's an impressive team of leaders. I am just one of the grunts.
Not everyone can be an Indian chef, there must be just the troops.

If you were an American, I would say much stronger words, but I will instead try to explain, given the difficulties you may have in understanding English.
