Aren't humans animals too? Just because we walk upright does not mean we still do not carry our primal instincts. How can man hunt and get food when physically the prey is faster, or stronger or even both? From the creation of man we've hunted to survive. Why stop now? Thats like trying to get a dog to stop killing birds. Its tame, and it recieves food, but why does the dog continue to try to hunt? For the same reasons as us humans, its a primal instinct, that we cannot change. The weapons or tools we carry are to make up for the physical disadvantages we have.

John,we all have our own oppinions.I would never take it personally.Unless you try to force me to eat vegetables.
I like the taste and you can't get deer or elk in the store.
Soooooo.......I have to go get em.
I dont always come home with meat either.I have not pulled the trigger more than pulled it.
If I have meat in the freezer,my hunting trips turn into camping trips.
Too bad we arent wealthy,we could go to Hawks seminar and roll with Royce.I hear he takes it easy on old men.
Exept for Hawk!

Ninjagod, you mean you don't have canine teeth? You might want to test the water you've been drinking or move out from underneath those powerlines.
So a wolf kills by dictation of nature but man kills of free will? So nature does not dictate human action? Have you ever heard of human nature? The fact that people detach themselves fom the animal kingdom is one of the greatest human fallacies.
As for going hand to hand with a deer, like I said, if I had claws I would. But see people have no natural weapons, we don't have real keen senses, we aren't that fast and we don't have big teeth and claws. What we have(some of us) is a BRAIN that allows us to create weapons. A deer is fast, has very keen smell, sight and hearing. The are very prepared to defend themselves. Any deer I go after has about an eighty percent chance of getting away. That's not sporting?
Finally, in the words of a very wise man "Life feeds on life, feeds on life, feeds on life." Deal with it.
BTW, none of this is personal. Just my humble opinion.

Yes i have canine teeth...."4", not exactly the same as a good killer huh. There relics left over from an age long gone. Its called evolution. I have many more teeth used for grinding grain. To deny that we are animals is silly but to deny evolution is just plain dumb. Yes our "big" brain (joke) has allowed us to build weapons to more easily kill animals and humans. It dosent mean we have to or should. We have many big bombs that could wipe out all our enimies, should we just cause we can?? The primal part of our brain is very tiny. If thats where you live Yella cool. I choose to use the more evolved portion of mine. And btw im not into a lot of judginig ie. your wrong or bad, im not even sure those concepts exist except in out very limited perceptions so of course im always willing to except other views as well. But we live out our lives within our personal belifs so...Also yes humans have the ability to go against nature ie. most of our problems. We can decide when to sleep when to eat etc. Animals are not as "lucky", as nature dictates this for them as well as when to mate etc. Now the fact of the matter is that nature does have a pattern for us that is much more condusive to happiness and health, but unlike any other species we can go against it, such as killing something simply for the joy of killing.
And in the words of another wise man: The world is indeed flatmaybe it time to find wiser people to quote...
And Dan i promise i wont make you eat your veggies...

Well I don't kill for the thrill of killing. I just enjoy the hunt, the outdoors, shooting in general, and I dig FREE FOOD! In fact I've never even been lucky enough to kill anything yet, but I'd still go hunting again and be stoked on the free food if I did get something.

How much have you spent so far on this "free" food?? Theres plenty of free food right outside your door. Its called a GARDEN. And this is just me but i can think of a million ways and a million things that give me more of a buzz than murder. That usally brings me down. And nothing personal here but you wouldnt belive how many hunters wifes i "baged" back in the day. Im not proud of it but then i was bedding down with wifes of murderer's so...hehe

Hunting is for the weak, like Joe Manco is for the weak.
First and foremost, the stupidest thing I have ever heard is that hunting is a sport.
Uh huh...
A sport is when both parties agree to certain terms, and rules, and both parties agree equally to the game. I have no problem with subsistence hunting, but realitiy dictates that a majority of us don't need to hunt to survive.
Hunting once again is a juvenile fantasy like Joe/Dim Dog's dog fighting is a jvenile fantasy. Hunters are the goofiest most unathletic people in general. And hunting with hounds and any other high tech equpment makes the whole practice even more of a fraud.
Someone here stated that we do have canine teeth that validate us as hunter or bonafide meat eaters, well so do gorillas, and other primates, and Gorillas are strict vegetarians if you don't count ants, and Chimpanzees are only occasional meat eaters.
In fact if you hunters are such brave primal men, why don't you try tackling a deer and using those frightful canine teeth to rip into its carcass.
: Come on.
I don't think you would have much success.
You see man's evolutionary trait is his intellect, not his brawn.
Humans are omnivores, and only because we had to be meat eaters durinng the ice age and other times when plant matter was insufficient. Evolution is what we decide it to be and the necessities that we eventually sway towards, it's not predetermined. So if we want to become strict vergetarians then that is what we will become. If we want to slaugheter animals for pleasure, and aesthetic reasons then that is what we will reamin.
