  • Bjj moves in a street fight?

Say I get a fight and as SELF DEFENSE I put a guy in an armbar and snap his arm. Will I be the one in trouble? Or what about choking someone out? IS there anyway to accidently choking someone to death instead of putting him to sleep?

Get a Greedy Lawyer to fight the case, cause I can guarantee he will. I keep my Lawyer on speed dial.

Well fighting is voluntary self defense is not so it would depend on teh situation. I wondered that as well if there is more leagallity involved with a cross arm bar vs a standing arm bar. I am sure the argument will be necessary force, since you had control of the situation was it necesary to break the arm.

Regarding choking, remember this is not the mat people are not going to tap it is very easy to kill somone with a choke if you don't knnow what you are doing.

Oh yeah,, like cboog said get a greedy lawyer

actually i had been thinking on this for a while now..now i want to do bjj cuz it's really practical, but let's think about this for a sec
bjj is full of bone breaking techniques correct?
but in real life the person attacking u can turn right around and sue u for breaking his arm or leg. use of exssive force. it can be a pain in the ass...so i c why it's real good in nhb stuff b-cuz the guy usually taps out b4 his limb snaps, so then it's ok, cuz 1. he can't sue, he wanted to fight, and 2. u didn't break his limb
so is bjj really effective in a street fight?..or will it just get u in bigger trouble.
so that's why i think u need to be effective in a stand up and ground art..not just one...and nowadays it can't defeintyl be just a ground art...it could get u in trouble...

punch the guy in the face and when he tries to sue you for the damage to his face sue him for the damage to your hand.

I'm pretty sure the situation has to be pretty dire to warrant snapping a limb (ie. several people attacking, weapons are being used). As for stangles/chokes, you don't really have to knock him out, just clamp it on still he feels weak, chuck him away and leg it. It always comes down to running...

yeah you don't have to hold the choke just squeeze down enough to make him gag and that will buy you time.

If you're that close already (choking range), go for a throat shot or eye jab - this ALWAYS has a great stun effect, (ever been poked in the eye while rolling? DAMN it sucks) and buys you more than enough time to get out of there. Plus you don't have to worry about sinking in a choke .

                Best regards,

i think u can get in trouble for just choking him too...so im still a lil skeptical...i still wanna do it nonetheless

That could depend on local laws and the situation. You attack me in my house and I shoot you I could be OK. You attack me on the street I take you down, get control and put on a choke that kills you I may be up on charges. There's a fine line of what you can do once you get control of an attacker. And there's always civil charges that can be brought against you.

really? thats good to know ahaha. U kno how if a boxer beats a person up on the street....hes hands are considered "weapons?" Well does that same thing apply to martial artists?

in most states when u become known as a "black belt" u must register ur hands and feet as "deadly weapons"..so yes it is true...unfortunately

A smart civil lawyer will jump on any training you have and sell you as an martial arts expert. He may even go after your instructor for a bonus payday.
