I did Krav for awhile. I didn't care for it. But the best thing is to try it out and see if you like it.

I recomend Krav Maga I have found it an affective way to learn defences aginst many comman attacts. It focuses more on brute force and is pretty much all martial and no art. A good web site for more information is http://www.kravmaga.com/Home/home.html
There is one certified Krav Maga school in Toronto and that is
          Warriors Martial Arts
          1444 Dupont Street #32
          Toronto, ON M6G 2T1

          Hope this helped you!

I've trained krav maga for over a year (also doing MT, BJJ, JKD). I think it is totally bad@ss, and would heartily recommend it. If you're in Toronto, though, you might also consider taking a look at Senshido, another RBSD system, taught by Richard Dmitri. Senshido is supposed to be incredible, and I know many of the KM guys have great respect for Senshido.

If you want more detail on KM, just search for some threads with my handle in them, and you'll get one man's perspective on it, albeit unabashedly pro-krav maga.

You might also be interested in Haganah, another Israeli combat art. It's very much RBSD, and the Master in the U.S., Mike Lee Kanarek, is an unbelievable bad@ss. The website is www.fight2survive.com, and F.I.G.H.T. is the acronym Master Kanarek has adopted for Haganah in the U.S. (haganah means "defense" in Hebrew). F.I.G.H.T. stands for Fierce Israeli Guerilla Hand (to Hand) Tactics. I don't know if there are any accredited F.I.G.H.T/Haganah instructors in Canada, but it might be worth checking out if there are.

            Hope this helps.
