I trained with John Will once, and he mocked me for being female.

So I guess you can imagine how well I took to him.

Yeah that is an interesting decision. Should I be a famale? I always ask myself that one? What made you decide to be female? Was it a decision or did it just kinda happen?

John Will is not brazilian, he is Australian Machado BJJ BB and live in Australia.
My instructor is Brazilian BJJ BB lives in Aukcland.
Why NZ people would follow an Australian leader compare to a Brazilian BJJ BB base in Auckland for BJJ confuses me?

I have no idea i'll have to ask him. I know Travis (sorry spelt wrong before) does Muai Thai, nunjutsu, and BJJ.

I dont know if I would be good enough to compete ina tournament. Only really just started.

I can answer that. John is one of the best in the world, (he's also a 3rd degree) and he provides us with skills that we cannot get anywhere else in NZ! Also as an english speaking native of this region we know he is going to stay around for the longhaul, and not dissapear when
                a) it gets cold
                b) his visa runs out
                c) he runs out of money
                d) he can't get/keep a job
                e) he misses his homeland

                  Well it is sad.
It sounds like you had your share of Brazilians instructors that could not stay in NZ for the above reasons.
But there are a few Brazilians in Auckland that are here for the long-haul so to speak!
Also, there is a Gracie Barra BB in Tauranga. Apparently he is in NZ with a work permit to teach!
I do understand you loyalty towards your leader because you know he is not gonna leave your club.
But my understanding (pls correct if I am wrong)
                  - John visits by holding annual seminars for a couple days per year.
                  - Other BJJ Team are not allowed in your competition, you only host club competition.
                  - Your team does not participate in our national OPEN BJJ tournament that is run by the Brazilians BJJ BB you have no faith in!
What good is that for your team or for the development of the BJJ in NZ?

My point is: John is Australian and live in Australia, not New Zealand.

                      Well, you are welcome.
You can compete in the white belt division.
You have nothing to loose but a good time rolling with new dudes for once.
Nobody is born a champion, you got to start somewhere!
It is really a good test and experience.
You can enter in your own weight category and also enter the open weight class.
                      Any BJJ team is welcome.
Who knows we might get to see some fights with BJJ brown or BB?

I went to Auckland for an "OPEN" BJJ comp once. your BJJ BB took 1 (one) student I brought 8. The "OPEN" BJJ competition had less than 20 people in it. I had a good time and met some great people and caught up with some old friends, but it was not worth the price of the travel.
