  • New MMA Event... will LIBORIO live up to the hype???

Liborio will fight in the much ballyhooed KUWAIT show, but first he will fight in JAPAN on the DEEP 2001 show.

    The partial card (from ADCC):

Takehiro Muranama (Osaka Proresu) v. Royler Gracie

Kei Yamamiya (Pancrase) v. Paula Leite Filho (Calrson Gracie)

Ikuhisa Minowa (Pancrase) v. Ricardo Liborio (Brasilian Top Team)

Katsuhisa Fujii (Free) v. Marcelo Tigre (Team Marcelo Tiger)

Daisuke Ishi (Pancrase) v. Jorge "Macaco" Patino (Godoi Macaco)

    KENGO Watanabe(Pancrase) v. Tachihikari (SPWF Pro-wrestling)

Kousei Kubota (Pancrase) v. Ryuki Ueyama (U-FILE CAMP)

Pancrase dudes versus some Brazilian "names".

We all know what happened to the last BJJ stud to make his MMA debut... Saulo. Can Liborio make a better show??? Minowa isn't as formidable as Kondo.

I cringed a little bit when I read this lineup the first time, since Tetel wrote on the UG that Liborio will have a "tune-up" fight before the Kuwaiti tourney. True, Minowa is no Kondo, but he's still pretty dangerous, and viewing him as just a tune-up could spell disaster for Liborio.

I just hope that the Top Team knows exactly what they're getting into. I'm reminded of some of the things I heard about Saulo's camp before the Kondo fight, which indicated that they had NO idea what they were up against: they didn't know that Kondo was a KO artist or a southpaw until the week of the fight, and Saulo actually fought with broken ribs (as a result of sparring 2 weeks before the fight). The Top Team better take this much more seriously, or we could see a repeat.

Unbelievable. Everyone who knows ANYTHING about Kondo, knows that he kicked Frank S. out of the ring.

At this rate, the Top Team guys are going to have to go crawling back to Carlson.

LOL, I was also pretty shocked that Saulo's camp was so unaware of Kondo's accomplishments, but it looks like the Top Team is a little bit more in tune with the MMA scene. They are 9-0-1 since the split with Carlson, and seem to have been preparing their guys pretty well so far. It's just that word "tune-up" that jumps out at me...

Minowa might not be the best fighter but calling him a "tune up" match is a bit insulting. Minowa has been in Pancrase since 97 and while not having the best record he has done well considering that he is about 185 or so pounds and has fought oponents much bigger then him untill recently when Pancrase added weight divisions which resulted in Minowa having more success.

I am NOT trying to start a fight, but it seems like a lot of Brazilian fighters can't shake the idea that they are the greatest fighters on Earth...regardless of win/loss record.

Hence the name "Top Team", perhaps?

Too much confidence can spell doom. Ask the Gracies.

It is a 'Brazilian Top Team', not just 'Top Team'. There's a difference moron.

Tiger69 - he said that he didn't want to start a fight. Can you, or can't you read?

So who really is the moron here?

                      Ronnie.

                        Thanks, ron.

                        I think it's fairly obvious.
