Yes, I plan on visiting other BJJ schools, as well as some Shotokan/Ryobu-Kai karate schools... As well as probably every surfing spot in southern California! But I'll be based at the Gracie Academy because I'm (probably) staying with someone connected with the school.
I'm not so much after info - I think I know everything I need to know about the school because my instructor here in Australia goes there a couple of times a year to train... I'm more after meeting people who train there so I've got people to hang out with!!!
I'll PM my email addy to you, and if you like you can forward it onto anyone you know who trains there.
The Gracie Academy is a great place to train. They have a solid program going, teaching both the best of BJJ and some weapon defenses as well. They also teach Rape Safe for women and have a G.R.A.P.L.E program for law enforcement.
Many, if not all, of their classes are taught by the Gracies themselves, mainly Ryron and Rener. If you're lucky you'll see Rorian walking around the academy.
Also, don't forget to check out their museum to learn more about the family history. When you enter, make a right and go up the stairs. When you reach the top landing, make a left and go straight through the two doors. The museum is a definite bonus to the school.
Overall, its a great school and you'll love it. Trust me. I know. At least I think I know. Ok. Now I'm gonna shut up. Right now. Ok, I'm done.
I heard the Gracie Academy was a great school for BJJ. I dont take it but im planning to go to Royler's school after i get a blackbelt in TKD which will be next year. My brother goes to Royler's school now and he says that you can learn alot about grappling. I'm hoping i can go there for grappling benefits so i can have a good mix of stand up and grappling if i go to full-contact tournaments.
