I was watching this K1 fighting on ESPN last night and every match seemed to have different rules? Just curious about it? One thing that bothered me though (reminded me of pro boxing) was one of the guyz I thought clearly one the when it came to the descion he lost? I dunno if it was politics or what you know. This Cung lo or something though was fighting that guy impressed the hell outta me. He was fast and so accurate they had said he was one of the best at Sambo? Just trying to get some info on it? Opinions about it. Oh yeah when I say like boxing.......I'm a believer that boxing should be winner takes all not these predeterminned $$ deals......then you would see a real fight.

Whenever Cung Le is fighting at a K-1 event, it's a San Shou rules fight (not part of the actual K-1 tournaments or anything...just an exhibition). He's trying to promote the sport of San Shou (I mean Kung Fu guys are always looking for a good way to prove themselves, and I think that San Shou and Kuo Shou events are a great step...personally I feel MMA suits what Kung Fu tries to accomplish better, but not many TMAists enter them nowadays).
Cung Le is pretty much THE name in San Shou (yes there are plenty of other great San Shou guys, but Cung is the only fighter that people from outside of the sport really know of), so whenever you watch him fight, it's to bring more attention to his chosen sport. I think he said he's a fan of MMAs, but I believe he said he doesn't plan on competeing in any MMA events...I could be wrong though. I think it would be awesome if he at least gave it a shot. Win or lose, I'm sure it would be fun to watch.

San Shou Fighters
SS fighters aren't very well known, even in the world of MMA.
Liu Hailong (185 lb??) is a well recognized name in SS. He's scoring more and more impressive wins against more and more well known Thai trained kickboxers. Of course he's lost too, but he's blazing trails.
Geriletu (160lb) is a somewhat recognized name in SS - He's a Mongolian with a wrestling background.
Cung Le made a challenge to Liu about a year ago. Nothing has happened; don't know why?? But it would be a great fight I'm sure.

It's unfortunately one of those "space fillers" that you happen to stumble across on ESPN2 (along with those Karate breaking competitions with the big dudes sporting some serious mulletude). I saw it last weekend (they showed a couple of fights on Friday night and I think again on Saturday night (late night of course).
