  • Ryan Hall wins two golds at NAGA World Championships!!!

    Hey guys,

Just wanna give a HUGE congrats to my student/friend (and illustrious forum moderator) RYAN HALL for winning both of the divisions he competed at today - Intermediate Welterweight and Intermediate Middleweight. I, unfortunately was not able to be there but he called me afterwards to tell me the good news. Not only did he win but all 6 of his total wins came by way of submission!!! (those of us who roll with him already know that there's only one shape Ryan's opponents will be having nightmares about tonight!!! )

I am incredibly proud. Ryan is my first student to begin actively competing in BJJ/Submission wrestling. He's been accumalting Silver and Copper competing in as many tourneys as he can find and now he's got some well-deserved gold. Not bad for someone with about a year of training. Also, props to Jeff Ruth and Team Lloyd Irvin, where Ryan has found a home (with great training) for the past couple of months.

Your game's on fire, man! ... Keep up the good work!
someday you'll be as good (-looking) as me!

This is great news. Ryan's a good guy, trains hard and, of course, does not pretend to teach the FBI!

    Well done Ryan Hall!

What are you talking about? I do teach the FBI...

        But seriously, thanks, guys.

Quick correction, though. It was intermediate lightweight and welter-weight.

I usually fight in the fat weight division. We are often armed with doughnuts, but usually eat our only weapons.

I competed gi as well--lightweight white belt. Got 2nd. Submitted my first opponent and then bowed out of the finals and took second rather than fight a teammate.

Congrats, Ryan! I had a feeling you'd be taking some great wins at NAGA.

Now did these 6 wins come by way of 6 different submissions??

                      Congrats!

                      Hey Ryan.

                      Great job.

My guess on the submissions were 4 by triangle and 2 by heel hook!

                        Awesome Ryan,
Props to the SBG and the I method.

Hey Jeff! Would not have expected to see you here.

2 armbars, 2 triangle armbars, and 3 triangles.

                          Ryu,

I don't think I even know seven different submissions . Sadly, clinics are put on against me by the people I train with, not the other way around.

HA! I've registered even before YOU did!

                            Sept 2002 baby!

                            When you in town next?

I read your PbP. A passout and a possible broken limb? You T3H D3aDl3y!
