Im just curious but how would you get involved in the bigger MMA events(competing in them.) Im 15 and im interested in MA and MMA and im probably going to do muay thai fights when im older. Im also interested in possibly competing in MMA. So im wondering you know thigns like UFC do you sign up? do you try out? or do you just go to smaller MMA competitions and expect to be picked up by a scout or something? Please dont flame me, im not some guy who expects to clean up all the competitions, im just curious. Also, I live in Canada. If i were to do this I would have to go somwhere like japan or somewhere in the US, right?

if you are good enough, you will be invited to participate in the UFC or PRIDE. you donot sign up afaik, they sign you up. scouts often attend "grassroots" mma comps and look for new meat. do you currently train?
also be aware that what you see in K-1 or on the prime spot on a boxing card, or in UFC and PRIDE are about the top 0.5% of fighters. there is no money in fighting unless you are EXCEPTIONALLY skilled, ala mike tyson, or wanderlei silva or Peter Aerts. you should not be fighting to get to the top, you should be doing it because you love the sport because chances are that you WON'T make it.

Right now im doing grappling, and im just starting muay thai. Thanks for the replies, you told me what i was looking for. Im not going to train expecting to get into K1, and Im not thinking of quitting my education anytime soon. I do martial arts for fun like you say, and I will probably do some competitions for fun. Im not expecting to be a world champion, but hey you never know.

You could start with grappling tournaments, win a few then maybe look into TKO. This is kinda the biggest MMA organisation in Canada.
Then the best fighters (like David Loiseau did) can get their ticket to the UFC...
