Just saw Rutten vs. Randleman

I definitely think Bas deserved to win this fight. Kevin did damage early on with some good elbows from side-mount, but Bas wasn't really hurt that bad, just cut. He landed a good kick on Randleman's ribs before being taken down for the second time. Randleman really had no offense from that point on, about 5:00 into the fight. He basically stopped fighting, and looked tired.

Bas fought well from his back and landed constant punches and elbows to Kevin's head. Some of these opened cuts on Kev's scalp. I know this is old news, but a lot of people still think Kevin got robbed in the decision. I don't think so. Kevin just didn't do what he had to do to win a close fight. Bas fought like a warrior for the entire fight, bleeding like a stuck pig. He even tried an arm-bar! He never quit fighting, and it seemed to sap Randleman's will.

In the judging categories of the time, Bas won striking and aggressiveness. This is correct: he landed many more strikes than Randleman, including the beautiful switch-kick to the ribs. He was also the aggressor from 5:00 until the end, even though Kevin was on top. If Kevin had worked just a little harder he could have taken the fight. Instead, he rested. Dumb.

Looks aside, Bas won this fight. He is definitely one game fighter.

Before I followed MMA and knew much about it, I saw the Randleman and Rutten fight, I thought Kevin was robbed, but after seeing for a second time AFTER I was a better educated fan, I realized that it wasnt so. Bas was really agressive, and lot of his attacks were very subtle to the audience because they were situated farther away.

If pins counted in MMA Randleman would be #1, but they don't. Randleman needs to expand his skills and learn to do something once he gets the guy on the ground.

The point of the picture is to capture what it's like to face a fighter. It is, therefore, necessary to represent the image of a fighter, and not an amateur.

Putting up your fists and declaring to the discerning audience, "I don't know how to fight", is a puzzling statement for a man to make, who'se purpose is to pose as an experienced fighter.

Royce has never really fought a savvy striker...the reason is seen in his stiff neck and grit teeth, it's an obvious physiological statement that "if you rip me with a left hook, my tight neck and grit jaw will guarantee you a KO"

If you're in a humorous mood, look at Thomas Hearns or Marvin Hagler in a poster - the essence of calm, supple danger, an relaxed state which imposes something injurious.

A comfortability with fighting that says, "I'm relaxed and this is my home...and you're standing on my doorstep". Anyone with a thimble's worth of real striking knowledge knows that Royce's stance reveals, like being pantsed in a supermarket with an ounce of cocaine, what a possum he is, stairing at the headlights of a striker.
