Anybody ever check out defendo before? They have a lot of videos and I'm thinking about buying the core video promoted above. Wish I could check out his school. But anyways, any opinions on their videos or the training itself?

I tend to shy away from ad copy like that.
"You are definitely one of the most lethal people I've ever met!"
"Your 15 seconds of accupressure made my fingers totally numb!"
It kind of reminds me of the Matt Fuery technique of advertising.. where, in the end, after reading through tons of ALL CAPS TYPE! and overly dramatic testimonials -- all he is selling us are some push ups and deep knee bends.

You may be giving sound advice, but what is wrong with Wolfe and his training.

Guys, there is nothing wrong with Bill Wolfe or his instructional material. You will definitely learn something from what he has to offer. The people de-basing his material and attacking his character are close-minded disgruntled “supposed WW2 experts” who live their lives very much in the same sad way as many Elvis fans do. Bill is personable, witty, intelligent and hard-core based. He has legitimate lineage with all the WW2 gods and is a good communicator. He served as a police officer, soldier and as a result has actually “walked the talk”, unlike many of the people criticising him on this forum. I say this objectively, because I have no professional association with him.

I have a few of Wolfe's tapes, not bad, it's basically "combat hapkido" with a twist. If you're looking for this sort of materials then I would go with Richard Dimitri or Geoff Thompson, I have countless tapes from countless organizations and Dimitri and Thompson are the best out there not only my opinion but many others as well. Not to say Wolfe's stuff isn't good, it is, but there's better and with Dimitri in particular, he seems to pack an incredible amount of information in his dvds they're all 90 minutes plus compared to most 30 to 45 minute tapes out there that sell for more. Can't go wrong there. And I know Joe Hubbard speaks very highly of both Dimitri and Thompson as well.

There does seem to be some type of personal grievance in the words of some poeple who knock him. I just never remember hearing something informative of why you shouldn't train with him (that I remeber).) I would have gone with Dimitri and Thompson't materials first, they are simply better, more advanced and innovative and dive deeper into the behavioral and psychological aspects which is paramount rather than merely teaching technique after technique. But you can also do worse than Defendo that's for sure.

Rashid, Nothing personal at all on my sideYou gave a reason why you prefer someone else and there isn't anything wrong with that.
I've heard the arguement against him a couple times. Now, I've heard the 'combat hapkido' statement before as well and it may be true. Wolfe may not follow a strict Combatives Style, and may add a bit of this or that with a blend of Hapkido, but if it is & can be practical and effective then he has something to offer. Though, I can't say either way since I have neither trained with him nor view his tapes.
Everyone won't like the same people, but if you're going to bad mouth someone atleast state a reason.
I agree with your take on Dimitri, though I didn't care for some of his work. He is a very knowledgeable person and is doing a great job. One thing you can say about him is that he is down-to-earth and doesn't have an issue with his ego.

come on. He also found a cure for AIDS, gave birth to quinuplets, and saved a kitten from a burning building.
p.s. his videos display a cornucopia of severly unrealistic combative techniques. Arm bars...tsk tsk.
P.P.S. GEOFF THOMPSON IS A GOOD SOURCE. GET HIS VIDEOS. VERY GOOD.
