  • How many push-ups?

How many push-ups do you do?

I was doin 60 times, 3x20. Then I add' +20 more = 80, 4x20; I was training like this 3 weeks and my heart began to ache. A month past since I quit training and I still 'feel' my heart sometimes. Did I do somethin wrong? I was doin it on speed and rest 5 minutes between approaches.

I normally do about 80 fast in one set every time I come out of the shower. I try and just do one set to exhaustion. I will then do more sets throughout the evening but not really to any set program. I'll just be making something to eat and do sets between stirring whatever is cooking. Normally complete a total of about 150-200 in maybe 4 or 5 sets. I try and do this every day but in reality probably only do it 3 or 4 times a week.
I have felt twinges in the front of my shoulders but never really my heart. That doesn't really sound to good....

You think pushups are tough, check out the strength of this guy:

Notice he does full planche pushups too, on his fingertips. That is some serious body strength.

Before you get freaked out about your heart and an EKG. About 3 years ago my chest and heart started to hurt one morning and OMG what pain. I went to the hospital and they ran some test and hooked me up to an EKG and found nothing wrong. It turned out that I hurt a chest mussel one just over my heart. This could be what is bothering you. Still get it looked at and make sure nothing else is wrong. I am willing to be this to be the same problem with you.

One thing to remember about doing lots of pushups is if your chest and shoulder muscles aren't strong enough, you can injure yourself in the long run.

                    300-500

                    On a good day.

1000 if you count a set of 500 in the morning and a 500 set at night.

I try to vary sets of normal...2 sets of 50, plyometric (claps) 1 set of 50, triangles 3 sets of 25...and fast halfy knuckle push ups...2 sets of 500.
On a good day, I'll try out like 50 finger tip pushups on just my index and middle, and 20 one handed each side.

You're doing speed and you ask us if you're doing something wrong?

Is there a lesson here? You quit training but did you quit "speed" too? Don't be a dope.

I think he meant he was doing the sets quickly.
But if he was doing some sort of stimulant....bum bum bum eeeeeekkkkk
                            cardiac arrest sucka...tachycardia....
                            not a good idea.
I used to take those twinlabs drinks with that crazy shit in it....what was that called...??? they took it off the market..oh yeah, ephedra.
Damn...drink like two of those before training...run like 2 miles...come back and you can't feel your feet and your head's fuzzy like steel wool.
Man...or those energy weight loss pills...argh..
No good. bro....don't do it...ain't worth it.
Even if you're doing those things with good intentions, i.e. to make weight, your probably doing the same amount of damage as huffing gas and amyl nitrate with a en-dust chaser in a sauna dressed in a wet suit...if you get my drift.

I see. That did cross my mind (after I posted) but it reads like a confession too. "I was doing it on speed.."

Ahh, well, I HOPE you're right and I'm wrong!
