  • I agree

    This post is kinda wack!
The best street fighting art is Street Fighting.
Too bad you cant go to the street fighting academy.

    • the ring arts are good for self defense not because of how you fight, but because of the attributes u gain from it. fast reflexes, conditioning, quick thinking, agility, and toughness all give u a better chance of defending yourself. even still, none of that guarantees anything but its better to have than to not.

.... Now the arts such as wing chun, silat and the other traditional styles, they're good but they are to traditional, meaning ... what worked for monks and people...years ago has little relivance today. ...wing chun would most likely be the best. if you want a good street defense art go with ... kempo is where its at. kempo i found developes better self defense skills .....

        Uh huh....

Interesting that JKD and Kempo instructors are embracing silat, specifically the little karambit for personal protection.

        • I dont know about using one, but i think in a street fight It could be good to have the hand speed and reaction that most FMAs provide(from what ive seen), with the powerful multitude of hits in Muay Thai, and the general flexibility from TKD, etc.
lol, if you wanted a good watch of a street fight, watch some fighters with Capeoria (pardon spelling) background. Sorry, had to add that. Capeoria is cool.

There are over 150 offically recognized styles of Silat and and many hundreds of other family, tribe or village styles of fighting arts from Indonesia that all collectivly fall into the Silat umbrella.

To many it is like Kuntao, to others Kung-Fu and some think it's like eskrima or kali and still others think it just a pretty dance...

I think it's like combat Judo with a knife.

At my age, you dont have to train to overcome that particualr situation.

Intent is the foundation for everything we do...What is the intent?
Intent is not the foundation of what I do.

It is not my intention to get into that situation in the first place

And as far as the bad guys being experienced brawlers? They were, in many of my own experiences. You just try to train so as to be more experienced...
Where I am from, you send such a message, they send you one back via a bullet

YES, IT IS! Your intent is to avoid the situation. Good on you! It's still intent and you seem intent on disparaging the purpose of my post.

I merely saying somethings are done without intention.

Intent is the plan and will to act in a particular way or choice to remain inactive...
