Personally I don't see the point in going full force, especially if you know that you can beat your partner. The goal is to learn and it's best achieved when working together. If you have a money move that you pull ALL THE TIME then maybe it's time you stop working that move and improve other areas of your game. At the same time it gives your partner a chance to work on other areas of his/her game.

    Just my two cents.

Personally I hate working with guys who roll hard all the time, after a while neither of you learn anymore (I know because Ive done this with one guy) and you end up doing the same things in the same positions etc.. Once you start lightening up and experimenting you start learning a lot more.
I also wont batter new/inexperienced guys unless they are being arses as that teaches them nothing and it teaches me nothing I didnt already know, if I go light and not finish everytime its the same as going for stuff and it failing so you thinking 'what next' all the time which means your getting something out of it as well.

Which Is The Point.... In My Humble Opinion. To Always Be Thinking And Learning.

Hmmm I would still say you should always be trying to win.... I could see once you get them to tap or w/e... just letting go of their arm or w/e... and starting from a new position.... and if your always working the same positions when trying to win.. shouldnt you be practicing those seeing as thats what you will be doing when you try to win... I dont know just makes sense to me, I see where you all are coming from though.

What's the point of destroying a newbie? You learn nothing by doing that except that, yes, the stuff you've learned and practiced works. If you yourself are not at least a blue belt then you're also inexperienced and by going full force all the time you risk injuring your training partner (and yourself).

In my case I was put out of commision for two weeks and was in alot of pain with a neck injury because another inexperienced person simply latched onto my head and crunched it into his chest as hard as he could at the end of the round just so he could "win".

            a) That technique would never work on anyone else with any experience.
            b) Going full force got a class mate hurt, which is rude and not the point of training.
            c) He didn't really "win" anything. He won a meaningless roll with a complete newbie and didn't actually learn anything useful from it.

Honestly, would you go home patting yourself on the back if you accidentally broke a purple belt's arm and "won", or would you feel bad? It's my opinion that unless you *meant* to perform the injury, you've actually lost because it shows a lack of self control and a lack of control over your own techniques.

              yeah. i agree with penance.

winning is good, but not at the cost of losing self control, or out of anger, and not at the cost of learning well.

in boxing and muay thai we dont even hit the noobs. we just give them tips and help em out while playing defense. however, if a new guy tries to go hard on us we just pound them. if u are a new "student" u would have so much other shit to work on that that brawling or trying to go hard isnt even a priority for u for a while, especially with an experienced guy. u should be trying to learn, experiment with stuff, and take it very like and learn to be fluid and fast.

i think its pretty fucking dangerous to have inexperienced people attempting joing locks and chokes on others. i personally know some dude who had his arm bent behind his back so hard in jui jitsu that it broke and tore muscles in his back. he was out for days, and had to get multiple surgeries and still isnt ok.

tom yum, in your naming of good contenders for matches u forgot to compare some of them with bruce lee.

              heres one

Hulk Hogan vs Bruce Lee mma match .who would win? hulk is an american icon, a giant bodybuiler who used do steroids and coke while working out at muscle beach in venice in the 80s while bruce lee would be much faster, have more technique, and very lethal striking power? hulk hogans leg drop is devastating while his body slams and big boot to his opponents faces are just as powerful. bruce lees much smaller and has less strength, however he makes up for it in speed and lethal striking ability.
