  • UFC 52 Chuck vs. Randy II Results

Well, i didn't watch the fight myself, but i do know that Liddell has become the New Light Heavyweight Champion by KO in the first round.

Apparantly there is a bit of controversy b/c Randy was poked in the eye by Chuck's thumb whihc led to them taking a bit of a timeout to check him out.
Right after they "restarted" Couture was knocked out.

I Watched The Fight And Do Not Think That The Eye Poke Was Intentional, Though I Do Believe That Randy Didn't See Well Enough To Avoid Chuch's Strikes.

I didn't see the fight but......

I was about 90% the randy would win, via one of his take downs, then ground'n pound chuck till the ref stops it. I have renewed faith in the power of punches. I was a chuck fan before I started to like randy. He's probably one of the classiest and most professional fighters on the mma scene. Liddell couture 3? anyone

I also watched the fight and don't believe that the eye was much of a factor. What was a factor is Randy not moving like he did in their first fight and that Chuck is a Phenomenal striker. A first round K.O. against Randy is pretty good proof that "The Iceman" is as much a knockout artist as his moniker would suggest. My buddy whose house we watched it at seemed disappointed (he's a wrestling coach) but I (muay thai guy) thought it was beautiful. Randy's guard was down and Chuck saw the opening and went for it. Good boxing.

Randy got caught with his gaurd down, against the cage. Liddell connected with a bomb. Simple as that.

                I do not understand.
Perhaps I'm just expressing my own concern about it.

I think its kinda ironic that Chuck is prodominantly a stand up fighter since he was a wrestler thorughout high school. But then again i dont know the whole story so.......

I dont know if we will see Couture/Lidell 3 anytime soon, if at all.... from the way things usually work, Lidell should have to face Ortiz next as Ortiz beat Belfort. Now if that makes any sense to anyone good, but this hsould explain it.

                    The way it was:
                    Champ: Randy Couture
                    No. 1 Contender: Lidell
                    No. 2 Contender: Ortiz
                    No. 3 Contender: Belfort

Basically Ortiz beating Belfort put him in line for the next title shot after Couture/Lidell.

                    Now its like this:
                    Champ: Chuck Lidell
                    No. 1 Contender: Ortiz
                    No.2 / No.3 Contender..... Belfort Vs Couture

Basically the top four battle it out, unless Rich Franklin wants to step up, HAHAHAHAHAHA, but hes fighting Evan Tanner in UFC 53, soo that wont happen, hed get lit anyway.

doesnt boxing take away from the idea of wrestling?I mean the last Tito ortiz match was a bad boxing match and very anti climatic as well as being an awfully bad boring staredown.
If i want to see good boxing, ill check out real boxers right?
I would never want to see sugar ray leonard or tommy hearns start wrestling.
I will say the say the bonner/griffin match last week was awesome....

$34.95 to watch that garbage. The UFC folks are getting wayyyyy to greedy and it will back fire.

i dunno, i don't think that i'll buy a PPV anytime soon just because there's no gurantee that the main matches on the card will last long.

I mean i really don't think paying 30 bucks to see Courture get clocked in the first round is worth the money. I know theres other matches but every1 knows that the main event is always the draw.

That's what combat sports do. A fight can end anytime after the opening bell. There are no guarantees. If you want a guaranteed length of entertainment for you hard earned dollar then go watch a movie.
