  • Our Website Updated

    Hey Guys,

Just thought I'd post and let you know that my website has had a major overhaul, and I'd appreciate some comments, and please, be as brutal as ya like!

We have a forum, techniques, galleries, reviews, and hopefully you'll find it usefull.

It's mainly TJJ, BJJ, MMA, but we also have users from almost every other style.

    Cheers,

    Rob

Looked at the techniques section and learned a few things, thought it was pretty good, one complaint though. No escapes from when your on the bottom in teh side mount.... thats currently what im having problems with.... only thing I can really do is try to go for a half gaurd. Im more of a wrestler then a BJJ guy.... I hate being on my back.

The only escape from side control, (other than inviting them to step over and going for guard while they're going for mount, which is risky and hard). Is If they're on your right side, your left arm will be up on their back so they cant get a figure four arm lock, your right elbow will be in their side. You then push off with your elbow, shrimp back (same movement as the other mount escape, which they dont have listed either) and slide your right leg through and into guard. So you push off twist your hips away and turn on your side to the left, giving you space to drive your right knee through.

Best used when they're moving between long and short base, side control.

      Hope this made sense.

      Hello i'm new.

Is that the Gumbi from OTM? Probably not.

Anyway, if someone has you in Side-Control, then you need to try and turn INTO them, and attempt a half-guard, then obviously go for full-guard.

NEVER turn outwards, unless you know exactly what you're doing!

There are a few techniques for when they attempt to mount from side-mount, but they're tricky, and you have to be pretty perfect in your timings.

Seeing as I dont know what OTM is, i'm going to guess no.

If your knee doesn;t get through you could go for half. Otherwise its back to catching a leg and going to half and then working it.

            Not from OTM then.

From side-control, it's always a case of working for guard, obviously going for half-guard first, or some may not consider that a move and just concentrate on going straight to guard.

But anyway, ALWAYS try to move hips away to the left (to create space) whilst turning towards your opponent, and go towards under your opponent, then work on a million guard sweeps.
