    I am a pretty inexperienced BJJ practitioner and i'm sure many of you have probably experienced this technique or even used it yourself, but i just thought i should mention it anyway.

    At one of my classes i was rolling with a guy more experienced than me. At one point i found myself in his guard, attempting a guard pass, when he squeezed my ribs with his legs by tightening his grip (with his legs). It was one of the most painful things i have ever felt. It works brilliantly though if you are trying to stop someone passing your guard.

    Just thought i'd mention it and see what you guys thought of it!

    Dude,

    You're in for a world of hurt if you thought someone squeezing you ribs from their guard was bad. Shoot, I've had guys with tree trunk legs crush my lungs, but that's not gonna stop me in the Guard. Besides, it would be too embarrasing to tap out in such a situation, even for beginners.

      If a squeeze on the ribs causes that much pain to you your screwed. That squeeze is one of the least effective offensive techniques I have experienced. But I don't mean that it isn't a great way of keeping someone in your guard, which it is. Just wait until someone gets you in a leg triangle and rolls you on your back and mounts you... that's painful, especially when the guy has a solid 50 pounds on you.

        Well, I feel your pain. A 225 pounder squeezed the crap out of my ribs and bruised them pretty bad. It hurts more now then when it first happened. Now its hard to take big breaths and when pressure is applied. Justin

          That is so rude!
          It is a easy trick that you do not do versus a teammate.
          But since he giving the bully stuff, give him back his medicine with interests!
          Next time he does that, push your elbows/hands into his legs/thights, he is not gonna that to you again!
          You should leave him with a few blues on his legs/thights!
