Female students?

I was wondering how many students at your school are female? What is their skill level?

At my karate school, there's about 50% female students, and their skill levels vary from beginner to advanced. Actually, the two highest-ranked people in the school are women.

At my BJJ school there's only one female - me - and I'm sh!t hot. HAHAHA J/K. I'm a blue belt, so that should tell you what my skill level is: Better than the white belts, not as good as the purples and browns.

My JKD / Muay Thai school...

There are a few female students, maybe half or less as many as male students at my MMA school. Almost all of them only join in the Muay Thai class, some just for the exercise or to lose weight. Some of them seem serious about the fight game and are pretty tough. I drilled MT with one girl about a week ago that I wouldn't want to get in the ring with. Of course, I'm new to MT really, so perhaps I'm not a good judge... There are only a couple girls I've ever seen attend our BJJ classes, and they don't come regularly.

in my school their is one girl in the Kali class, a lot in the youth class, two in the MMA class, and upwards of 40 in the Women's Thai class, also there is a self-defense class that has seen as many as 20 women at a class. the thai class is an actual thai class and not some damn aerobic BS that's so popular, and i think that is part of the draw.

Hmmmm....it seems like the stand-up m.a. is going to draw more women. I think it's hard to feel comfortable grappling with men at first. Too bad there aren't more bjj classes for women only.

But if a woman wants to learn how to defend herself, she can do so with men. Men and women can practice together and help each other.

One blue belt woman in our school. she is very fluid, in tremendous shape, and has tons of heart (plus she's kinda hot!).

All kidding aside, I really love taining with her.

Cindy Omatsu runs womens classes at Rigan Machado's school in LA. I believe there is another school nearby with women's classes as well.

I don't like the idea of segregating classes based on gender, but perhaps schools with women's "beginner" classes might be good - to help women get over the hurdle of actually starting, and then once they've been training for a few months, they can join the mixed classes.

She competed in the Abu Dhabi tournament a few weekends ago in Long Beach.

At our school, if my poor memory is correct, our females class mates are:
one brown belt, two purples and 3 white belts.

-girls in BJJ are treated as equals, and given the respect of not making them feel uncomfortable with groping them during wrestling and stuff, though this porn-star looking lady came in our class once and was thinking about joining, i was like "I'll pay for your training....and anything else you want"
