I can think of a lot of MMA fighters that would own oleg taktarov... He is a good fighter.. I like him a lot and he has heart but someone like Vanderlei silva would own his ass..

How do you know?

He never fought him.
I for one never underestimate Olegs Skill.
after all he drew with Ken Shamrock.
And he has beaten a lot of brillant fighters. So until he is infront of any opponent its always hard to say the outcome.
However Bas Rutten would kick the shit out of Vanderlei silva.
Provided Rutten was focused and in shape.I think Rutten is the Ultimate Fighter. Other fighters I like are:

Randy Couture

Oleg was part of a film crew that was missing in Africa.

It was all over the LA news for many days.

Group Fails To Return From Namibia
LOS ANGELES — Los Angeles colleagues expressed concern Tuesday for a group that failed to return from a camping trip in Namibia in southwest Africa while making a documentary on witchcraft.

Los Angeles publicist Sherri Spillane identified the missing as Los Angeles pilot Christopher Banninger; British-born businessman Mike Edson; Russian actor Oleg Taktarov; South African athlete K.J. Lodge; and a sex therapist and radio host who goes by the name of Natasha Terry.

The five were brought by helicopter to a camping area on Friday and were supposed to be picked up the following day, said Spillane, ex-wife of crime writer Mickey Spillane.

Due to a "mis-communication," the helicopter pilot did not arrive until Sunday, she said.

When the pilot did show up, he "found a note in a bag saying (the campers) were headed west toward the coast," presumably on foot, Spillane said.

The pilot described the region as "the hottest area they could possibly go to," she said.

It's wintertime in Namibia, a hot, arid country with large tracts of desert. Conditions are warm during the day and cold at night.

Dana Cyccone, secretary to Edson, said the film crew had camped in a remote area near the Namibia-Angola border. She said she notified the U.S. embassy in Windhoek -- the capital of Namibia -- that the group had failed to return from the trip.

Two embassy officials contacted this morning by City News Service -- press spokesman Stan Harsha and vice consul Aaron Daviet -- said they had received no reports from family members that anyone was missing in Namibia.

"We've had no inquiries from the family, but the family is welcome to contact us," Harsha said.

Cyccone said she later got in touch with Daviet, who sent her the names of three air charter companies in Namibia, which possibly could be used in the search.

Spillane said the witchcraft documentary project "had been going haywire" when the crew decided to go camping. At one point, the crew had been chased out of a village, she said.

"They were filming a tribe in one of the small areas there, and apparently one of the participants got very upset that they were there," Spillane said. Villagers chased out the crew, "cursing them," she said.

Spillane said the crew subsequently experienced a number of difficulties, including car trouble and getting stuck in an elevator at their hotel.

"Everybody had started to freak out," said Spillane, who represents people who gained prominence on reality TV shows.

"I don't know if they believe they were cursed, or so stressed out that they couldn't stay there any longer," she said.

Edson is producing the documentary, said Cyccone. Also involved in the project are the pilot, Banninger, and the therapist, Natasha Terry, who also uses the name Janina Valdez, said Cyccone.

Another person associated with the documentary, identified as a producer named Charlie Solomon, apparently did not go on the camping trip, according to Cyccone. Solomon has returned to Los Angeles, she said.

WINDHOEK, Namibia (AP) - An international film team that apparently disappeared while on assignment in a remote part of Namibia has been found safe in a bizarre case said to involve a Hollywood sex therapist, Russian actor and African witchcraft.

U.S. and British diplomatic officials said Saturday that a group of foreigners - two Americans, one British, one South African and a Russian - were located in the Epupa region of northwestern Namibia.
"The crew members were rescued this afternoon, and they are generally in good health," said the U.S. embassy spokesman in Namibia, Stan Harsher.

A British embassy official, speaking on condition of customary anonymity, concurred and said the embassy hoped to speak to the crew on Sunday.

The team apparently went missing early last week while trying to film a documentary on witchcraft, according to a Los Angeles-based publicist, Sherri Spillane, who said they were chased out of a village where they were trying to film.

Spillane, who represents people who gained prominence on reality TV, identified the missing as Los Angeles pilot Christopher Banninger; British-born businessman Mike Edson; Russian actor Oleg Taktarov; South African athlete K.J. I never underestimate Bas either but even Bas would have trouble with Oleg.
Bas is my favourite fighter But Oleg is relentless.
That would be a hell of a fight.

I remember hearing before somewhere that Oleg was undefeated for 10 years before he fought in the UFC..But still, for somebody to fight Ken Shamrock to a draw is extremely impressive.. especally for back then when ground fighting wasn't that big..

Bas versus Oleg???? Hmmm... If it was Bas early in his career then I would think Oleg would beat him, but if it was Bas during his UFC days I think he'd win.. I'd be one hell of a fight to see though!!

Back what seemed like a hundred years ago, when I was training at Beverly Hills Jui Jitsu, both guys; Oleg and Bas were teaching.

I never heard if they ever sparred against each other.

Both Bas and Oleg are some of the toughest guys I've ever trained with.

IF they would have competed in a MMA type match, I'd say it would be a coin flip to determine the winner.

I will say this; I've never seen anyone with a faster and stronger kick than Bas.

not sure how good his jiu-jitsu is now, but when he faught Tank Abott he had Abbot in a traingle 2 times and never thought to close it or finish it, he didnt even realize what the position was, else the fight would have been over much sooner

Not sure if Oleg did Jiu Jitsu

I understand Oleg studied Judo & Sambo.
But Iam not sure about Jiu Jitsu.
Will have to research this.
However I do know that he beat Tank Abott & He does have a good fighting record.
I think Tank Abott could at times be a dangerouse opponent.
However Tank Abott should work on his stamina his grappling & maybe study Muay Thai Kickboxing Techniques. Then he would be a more complete fighter. I however say anyone who gets in the ring or in the cage is a brave Man.

Bas in the early UFCs had ZERO ground fighting abilities, a BJJ fighter would have absoluetly wiped the mat with him, he might have learned a little since then, but Silva would destroy him easy

Bas is an excellent Grappler & brillant at Mauy Thai I very much doubt Silva would touch Bas.
However Bas would have to get back in top shape he has not fought in quite a while.
I think Bas could easily beat Chuck Lidell & Randy Couture.
