You have no idea how bad I would love to do that. Unfortunatly I don't have the ability to keep a dog. (we have a yard but I would have to buy and install a fence, which my mom wouldn't want, and I'm at school a lot and I work a part-time job which means I couldn't possibly afford a dog and Judo). But ya, I'm going to start, hopefully tomorrow, biking for 30 - 60 minutes a day to get into better shape.

Zapatista - listen to badgerfu when people tend to want evrything at once the novelty wears off and usually nothing is accomplished. After a few years of MAs you will know what direction you need to go whether its BJJ Boxing or MT. But the idea that Judo is the base and stregthen teh ground game with BJJ is good. But again if that's what you want there are many that are stand-up MMA fighters and really need 1-2 submissions on the ground but mostly how to get back on your feet. So judo may be enough and you may just want to focus on boxing or MT.

Also, I would stay with a pure judo school. the other dojo may be good for SD, but you want pure judo and ranking in judo which you will not get at the other school. You will be fine just let us know how the first few classes go...expect to be very sore.

As far as the work out:
      Cardio
      Running
biking (lternate and lower the seat a notch or two to work you quads if youdon't go to a gym)
      jumprope

      Push-ups

      situps/crunches

thanks for your reply IPON. It turns out I'm (probably) not going to do MT or Boxing. While I may do it for fun, I wouldn't want to do any competing in MMA or MT because my vision is pretty bad and I don't think I would be able to fight well without my contacts in and I saw another post about that topic and one person said sometimes his contacts fall out and sometimes they don't. But I wouldn't be able to fight if they came out so it looks like I am not going to do the striking arts.

I'll throw in another question. My vision wouldn't be affected in Judo competitions would it? And would I be allowed to wear my contacts (soft lenses) while competing?

Grappling is a lot more kinesthetic than visual. Even blind people can grapple.

You'll do fine. Just um... start doing it.

I'm planning to start soon. I've called this one place by me two times today. I'll try calling again later tonight but if not then I'll either have to go over there tomorrow during the day when there's no classes or I'll have to wait 'til Friday at best, considering I don't know my work hours and I work tomorrow and thursday at night and that's when classes are, and they seem not to be around when there's no classes.
