  • Japan should be ashamed!

How the hell has everyone been?

When is enough enough? Is it me or is anyone else here tired of seeing Japanese professional wrestlers beating up on BJJ fighters.

Japan continues on with the facade that their fighters are elite by punishing poor ole Brazilians and Gracies more to the point. SHEEET! Now we might have to endure Ryan vs. Sak.

What the hell is Ryan but some some 5'8 midget who should be competing in the 170 lb area. Hell, go get your ass kicked by triggs or Hughes, but please don't become another mount on Sak's trophy wall. This makes me beleive Pride had this set up all along. Let Ryan look like a stud against a stiff for credibility, then throw his ass to the lions.

Pride's ingenious way of keeping Sak on top has become sickening. Keep Sak fighting Brazilians and Gracies, but avoid the likes of Frank Shamrock or Dan Henderson. I bet you, they'll never offer Frank a legit price to fight their golden boy. Isn't it peculiar how Pride never went after Tito Ortiz (another guy that would beat Sak) when there was plenty of oppurtunity?

No matter! It's enivitable that americans and more to the point, wrestlers will own every major fighting title by the end of next yr. It's just disappointing to know Sak will never fight anyone outside of Brazilian nationality to ensure his place among the greats.

Btw: Randy couture will be the new KING OF RINGS champion.

    Later on dudes.......

You're being a little unfair keithws.

I think Pride is putting Ryan up against Sak to build even MORE pressure against someone we all know (rhymes with "Chickson") to step up. Not that it will do much good, but maybe it will help. Also, Ryan's aggressive style and punching ability may give Sak some problems - who knows?

Tito has never fought in Japan (except with UFC), and Frank was made an offer and turned it down. That will probably be a retirement fight for both guys when it goes down.

Frank did not turn down any offer. He told Pride he would fight Sak and that he needed to know by a certain date if the fight was on. He told them he needed x amount of days to prepare for a fighter a Sak's caliber.

As is usual procedure for Pride they waited until 1 month before the date to tell Frank Sak would fight him. He told them to go stuff it and this is when Pride called Renzo. Renzo stepped up despite the short notice.

I respect Frank for sticking to his guns and not going to the fight fully prepared. He will kick Sak's ass in due time. Remember Pride gave Vitor 4 weeks notice, Renzo 4 weeks notice, Mezger 2 weeks notice, Royler 4 weeks notice, they are famous for giving Sak's opponents short notice.

P.S. Frank told me this in CA when I was training with him. It is no B.S. rumor.

Finaly someone else that feels he same way as me, enough of this Gracie/BJJ fighter versus Japanese hero. Their are plenty of fighters that deserve their chance at the top fighters of Japan.

As for Sakuraba fighting Ryan to pressure Rickson, well the only thing that will convice Rickson is bags of cash. Its pretty obvious by now that Rickson cares more about money that testing his ability or defending the Gracie name.

In this case there really can't be any excuse for Rickson not fighting Saku. Saku wants the fight, the fans want the fight, and the money would definitely be there. And don't tell me Saku could just go to Rickson's dojo and challenge him.

                        Sak retiring

Any intelligent estimates on Sak retiring before he has to prove himself?

I don't know why Japan should feel ashamed because of Sakuraba vs. Ryan Gracie.

                          GROUND CONTROL,
I think Sak beat Vitor, and Renzo because he is a better fighter. And what made him the better fighter?
He trained harder. He trained more than those guys.

Maybe if Renzo and Vitor put as much time into training as Sak did, then they would have win. But to say that Renzo lost because he only had 1 month to train is a weak argument.

Wasn't Sak under the impression that he would face Frank, but instead had to fight Renzo? Basically, Sak was training and those guys weren't, and if you aren't training, you're opponent will be better than you. But if you train equally as hard, then the naturally better fighter will win. That includes strength, technique, balls, and brains.

Balisong- Let me start by saying Sak beat Renzo fair and square. He also kicked Vitor's ass. I am a Sak fan. He is a bad MOFO. But I don't like the protection the organization gives him.

Now Sak new he was going to fight Renzo all along because Pride had no intention of allowing Frank the time he wanted to prepare. Renzo was already signed to fight Ryan's opponent Ichizawa. Once Frank deadline passed they asked Renzo because he had been chasing Sak for two years. As a matter of fact Renzo was signed to fight him instead of Otsuka. Pride called Renzo and asked if he would fight Otsuka instead for the same money so Royler could fight Sak.

Renzo was training for a wrestler and was left with short time to prepare for Sak. Renzo was deadeven if not slightly ahead when his elbow was dislocated. There was 12 seconds left in regulation. Matt Hume (was a judge)as well as the announcers had Renzo winning the first round. The second round was fairly even.

Sak went for the Kimura and Renzo tried to escape. They hit the floor in an akward fashion and the arm popped. If you watch the tape check out the sequence. If the ropes are not in the way Renzo would have wound up cross side and easily escaped the armlock.

But shit happens. Like Renzo said the better man won that night. Hopefully Sak will rematch him because it was an exciting fight.

You have no clue as to how Renzo trained for the fight. So why do you accuse him of not being ready? Did he look out of shape or unprepared to you?

Pride protects Sak as best as they can. Don't get me wrong he fights all the top guys, but they all get short notice. Pride tells Sak who he is fighting well ahead of time. Then 3-4 weeks out they tell the other guy. Not many will turn down the payday or the opportunity to fight him. Even Guy Mezger said 2 weeks was way too short of notice but they offered me 75,000 for the fight. I could not turn that down.
