Listen Mr. Patterson.
When you're hand doesn't cut the job anymore, get a women! On the real bro, how are things going my angry little teenager?
What's up King Pharoo? Upon taking your advice, I've decided to be the first "Real American opponent to fight Sak". EJ's going to get budweiser to sponsor our training.
BTW: Sak's a stud but for him to be the man, he has to beat the man. No, not Rickson. I'm talking about Frank and yes, Tito would also beat Sak down.
The reality of the situation, is BJJ fighters are no longer top dawgs. They have continually been beaten in shooto, Pride, Ufc, and Rings. They've had some victories, but have definitely fallen short in the high profile matches over the last 2 yrs.
Bring on the Americans MEAT!

Yo Cello,
Lets see in athletic terms, who I am. Well, I'm a weekend warrior baseball player. Some prefer to be called a semi pro player (like EJ:}) but that's just a title that makes beer leaguers like myself feel good. I've played some basketball when I was in school. I was only pretty good, so I once again became a weekend warrior or beer leaguer in that sport too. I played soccer and plan on making my beer league debut in a few months when I'm 30 (I do prefer the term semi pro if you don't mind).
I also train in the great sport of no takedowns :}, BJJ! I train once to twice a week in that sport and probably don't have the joints nor talent to succeed as a weekend warrior. I also used to train in boxing when I was a teen and threaten myself to start again. It's bulsh*t, because I know I don't want some dude pounding me in the face.
As far as being a bandwagon boy, I don't know. I just consider myself to be a lucky fan since my favorite teams are the lakers, yankees, rams, and happen to be fan of U.S. athletes.
And I agree, your formentioned fighters are warriors, but that doesn't mean I can't act like a basic fan. Talk crap and act like I'm an expert on the subject. Afterall, i'm the dude paying to watch them fight my man. Do you think every football, baseball, or basketball fan is a former pro?
Take care CEllO

GROUND CONTROL,
Good to see you keeping our discussion civil. I'm sure Renzo trained very hard for the fight.
I thought the fight was very even. I think Renzo lost the fight because he knew there was less than a minute left, and then got caught off guard. I'll bet everybody in attendance was thinking it would go into overtime including Renzo.
I don't know too much about Pride contracts and such, but I guess Frank had better get into his training regimen and stick with it because maybe 3 or 6 months into his training Pride will offer Frank a Sak fight thinking Frank is not ready, and guess what? Frank will be ready and no excuse from anybody.
I think Renzo also lost because he didn't have the proper mental game for Sakuraba. 1. The stalling he did in Rd 1, was not what you expect from that level of fighter, and 2 he fell asleep in the last minute.
Peace.

keithws, Im also a fan, and that also entitles me to disagree with other fans.
But maybe I just have more respect and a bigger heart for those guys that lay it on the line. But you and dudes like perriti come out of the same mold.
This is not the WWF, were there is all this drama and soap opera crap, this is for real. These are guys that you or I might personally know. These are guys that are putting mine or your combat discipline to the test. If they lose fine, hey every warrior has to lose some time, but dont turn on them if they do. I cant stand hearing guys like perriti change how they feel about a fighter at least 10 times during the course of a fight. The mo fight. He raved at mo when he did good, but said he had aged when mo got into alittle trouble. Severn lost, and all of sudden became useless, even though is was him who put him up there in the first place. If severn had won, he wouldve hand washed his jock strap.
Some advice, if you ever decide to venture out in some real combat, dont get weak leg guys like perriti or yourself to be in your cornor. Because when you lose, youre going to feel mighty alone.

Balisong - Do you think Renzo stalled in round one? He was clearly the aggressor and landed much more effective strikes. Abu Dhabi had a picture of the two of them together after the fight. Sak had ice bags on both thighs and one ankle. Renzo had the obvious his arm wrapped and iced.
Most of Sak's fights are slower paced because that is how he fights. Stalling is part of his style.

True, Sak is not necessarily The Man in the < 200 lb "middleweight division", but this is irrelevant. Sak is now fighting in a < 185 lb weight class, and has no desire to fight larger opponents anymore. Why should he? A 215 lb Ortiz beating a 185 lb Sak would prove nothing. At his weight, Sak is clearly now The Man.
The only advantage guys like Ortiz have over Sak is that they are far heavier. You can bash Renzo all you want, but it's clear to me that Sak would beat a 175 lb. version of Ortiz MUCH easier than he beat Renzo.

Listen Mr. Devil dog, "keithwuss" will be venturing down to San Diego July 4th for a SEMI PRO BASEBALL TOURNEY next yr.
If you aren't off doing whatever it is that exmarines do (going to a gun convention I suppose), I challenge you to drink off. Hell, we can even make it beers! EJ will be on my baseball team, so he can be witness to you gettin whooped.
Cello, I don't believe these fighters are representing mine or your combat system. Maybe in the beginning of the 90's that was the case, but times have changed.
The truth is, they are professionals with a main discipline who crosstrain and use multiple styles. How many of your ordinary lads can train in different systems like the pros. In most cases, people pick one martial art cause that's all they have the time and money for.
I actually believe styles like Kungfu, Karate, judo, BJJ, wrestling, etc are all very effective on the streets if you train properly.
Btw bro, I'm not saying these guys aren't warriors or that they suck. I'm just saying certain fighters and certain countries produce better fighters than others. I'm also saying they're are tougher matchups for sak outside BJJ guys. If you want, I can definitely support my statements with proof.
