  • Learning Ninjutsu

Hey, i'm new here and this is my first thread here. I've always been in arts of fighting all my life. Mostly it was un-official fighting techniques that I learned on my own, and eventually I joined a Kung Fu class for a year where I was exceptionally well in sparring and forms, mainly cause i've wrestled for 6 years and would always get the tackle in.

I was intrigued to buy a 300 dollar set of Ninjutsu DVD's from the Ninjutsu Grandmaster Hatsumi. I'm wondering if anyone thinks these are good stuff I should buy to learn Ninjutsu. It looks really good, it comes with a Shodan, Japanese phrases audio, ABD 1 year membership. I can also mail in tapes for the testings so I can become official in Blackbelt later on in some years. Does anyone know from experience if these are good tapes? And anyone who took Ninjutsu, is it really as powerful as it seems? THanks

I'll forego on the usual barrage of jokes on you because its your first post and just skip straight to the actual help.

This sub forum is for bjj/mma in particular, try postng this in the japanese martial arts part of this forum, I'm sure you will get alot better results, more experienced opinions, possibly someone who has the dvd's and can tell you more about them, and alot more replies, faster replies too.

As for my own personal opinion which you can take with a grain of salt... I wouldnt spend 300 bucks on a dvd set.. but its up to you.

The only member I know of who does Ninjutsu is Koto_Ryu, hopefully I'm not confused and have the right guy. He may be able to answer your questions.

Good luck with whatever you do though.

$300 is equivalent to about 6-8 months worth of dues at a dojo, being taught by a real professional. Someone that can see the mistakes you make and readjust your technique. Videos will not give you feedbacks. You will not be able to learn from anyone other than that video. Going to a dojo allows you to meet people of common interest that will help you progress. It will also earn you some respect when you are able to say "I learned this art from XXXX". Noone would respect a blackbelt that learned everything they know from watching DVD's and movies. Whats keeping you from finding a real instructor?

Videos can be a good suplement if you train in a dojo with a qualified instructor, but don't go for this long distance Shodan crap.

Ninjitsu as it has been taught in the west in current days is also very controvertial. Do some research about the ninjas and their art. Historical reading and not the pop books at the martial arts section at Barnes and Nobles.

What is your interest in ninjitsu?

Here are a few historical ninja books. They won't teach you how to fight though.

              - Ninja Ad 1460-1650 (Warrior, 64) by Stephen Turnbull

              - Real Ninja by Hirohisa Oda

I also think you should take a serious look at this website if you really want to know about ninjas.

The most important things about ninjas is what you will find there.

all you need to know about ninjas

" I thought I knew a thing or two about ninjas. I’ve seen flying ninjas, exploding ninjas, underwater ninjas, underground ninjas, giant ninjas and even naked female ninjas. However, Robert Hamburger’s knowledge in this field is second to none."

The kid who runs that site know's nothing about Ninjas. He actually believes they will kill at any moment they feel. He believes that once, a Ninja dined at a restaurant, and a guy dropped a spoon, and he destroyed the whole village. Just plain retarded.

Why would you be tackling others in kung-fu? Or was this meant to legitimize yourself in a grappling forum?...

Either way, I'd stay away from ninjitsu... That stuff's too dangerous and lethal for us grapplers. Ever hear of ninja mind control, death touch, invisibility, etc... Crazy stuff.

I'm a mixed fighter you could say. In sparring, it was really anything goes besides head and groin shots. In the time I would fight someone more skilled, bigger, taller, or whatever more superior to me, I would always grapple to the ground.

And yes I know about Ninjutsu. And what you think of is fake. I know much about it, I don't know why people are giving me links to books and stuff. I've done my share of research for a fairly long time. I even own an illegal book of Ninja studies. Ninja mind control is fake, perhaps through meditation possible, but death touch is nothing more then the study of pressure points, which I know alot about. Certain areas at certain times of the day make certain parts more vulnerable for a Delayed Death Touch. The 5 second Ninjutsu Death move is a complicated matter which takes years of practice. And since I am sworn by the book not to reveal its name or the secret diaphram to meditate too, you'll have to either believe me or not.

wow! a secret diaphram ! is it used in conjunction with your penis kung fu?
the secrets you refer to are called Mudra's and they arent that secret. a five second death touch huh? whats that for? i prefer you to fall now, not 5 seconds, 3 minutes or seven years later. your 5 second death technique leaves someone 4 seconds to kill you now. get a teacher, use that book for toilet paper it might be good for that.

BTW if you know so much about ninjutsu what the hell are you doing looking at that crap you started this thread with? From secret ninja training manual to internet ninja classes...have you listened to yourself?

Seriously, man... I was being sarcastic. You obviously know too much about ninjitsu to be ordering $300 worth of video.
