I dunno, but to me it seems like half the time with wing chun their wasting their energy and getting nothing done.

But of course I can't be sure.

I've never seen a kung fu video where it was used in a real fight against an actual, resisting, skilled opponent where the kung fu guy wins AND it isn't a complete accident.

Like, I saw the street fight where the kid busts out the kung fu stance like it's a TV show and in the end kinda flails around and gets a lucky punch on the guy...but again, the guy is just some street tough. Resisting, but not skilled.

Every other video the kung fu guys loses or it's just a demo, not a real fight.

It looks cool, but I don't think kung fu is practical against anyone that is resisting, skilled, and about the same size or bigger.

allot of kung fu seems like tradition to me also, and some of it is. though it is grounded in practicality and undoubtably there are kung fu practicioners who would woop many muy/bjj fighters asses.

also, i have seen kung fu be used against a skilled resistor, look as Cung Le of K-1. He practices San Shou, based of Wushu and kinda of Kung Fu, it mixes many techniques of many chinese arts. It includes throws, strikes, grappling, and everything in between. Cung Le himself is not some looser in K-1 either, he is a 3 time world champion, often overwhelming opponents with his volume of techniques, mainly his awsome takesdowns, like his scissor kick.

I would like to see kung fu used more, and karate. I see way too much muy thai and it bored me, i also refuse to beleive that kung fu is invalid as a martial art, though much of it may be. I'm sure that if someone is pretending to be a snake that they just cant be fighting effectively, animal forms have always fascinated me but i never see them put to use outside of demonstarations of punching air, i want to see shoulin monks spar using the kung fu they have been brought up on, does this EVER happen?

try this video...most poeple who use kung fu do so for self defense, so there are not as many cameras present as say for your usual bjj, mt or boxing event.

thats what i'm talking about, that guy can duke it out well.

thats one advantage kung fu has on BJJ, even though im a grappler i can admit it. If you take one guy down and put him in an arm bar, the other 2 will stomp your face. that man in yellow faught off 3 men, i am impressed i only with i could see more KF in action.
