Well this was just practice MMA fighting without the pads (except for the mma gloves) and I was going up against a guy, prolly 60 pounds heavier than me... we started to wrestle, I took him down, he somehow rolled me over, and all I could see was his fist coming down on my face.

Didnt get knocked out but my nose did explode with blood lol.

Luckily there was only one other guy there doing it with us, oh and my instructor haha, oh well...

You mena a one-punch and out cold KO?
Yeah I did it once a good while back in the ring kickboxing. However we were sparring, not competing. I had to go up against another guy who was my height but outweighed me by about 30 lbs, anyway, we get in close and start throwing punches and I just threw a really wild right hook and it caught him directly on the chin, his legs went out from under him and you could have counted a 20 count over him. I was still fairly new to kickboxing at the time and I couldn't believe I actually knocked the guy out especially since I hadn't even realized I had done it at first.

Sleeper holds? Nite nite time... similar result. less brutal, no fuss, no mess, no trauma at all... not too exciting, eh?

I don't really remember.... but I'm TOLD I caught a left hook in my first fight and fell like the ole' sack of cement.
I'm told I was doing okay up untill that point. I'm also told we went to dinner after and I got up and tried to go to work the next day.... I'm just going to have to take thier word for it. It's as if everybody I know just got together and made up an extra day in my life for a prank - as far as I know it never happened.

got side lined at a party by a kid who thought I was someone else. Hit me right on the button with my back kinda to him and it was snoring time. People at the party actually said I was making a snoring sound.Came to after a couple seconds and saw him getting jumped by all my boys. I couldn't even talk because low and behold, I had a nice broken jaw.

My KO's all came from serious street fights; the techniques were fist combinations ending up with rabbit punchs and stomp kicks. I'm not that proud of it but given the circumstances and mindset of everyone involved, I did what I had to do.

                Sparring.

I was sparring with a guy who was just turning professional as a boxer and who was in the same weight class as my own. I kept up with him in the first round and did ok, landing a pretty solid body shot that thumped. Second round he landed a right uppercut that gave me the old purple haze kaladeiscope vision and weakening legs, I think I was knocked out until he hit me again with a left hook that woke me up.

I finished the 2nd round kinda beat up.

On another occasion, I knocked a guy down and out with a clinch and knee during fight prep.

                Fights.

In the ole open tournament karate days, I knocked some guys down to where they couldn't continue. Likewise, I once caught a spinning back kick into the gut and thought I was going to die, loosing the fight.

If it's on the mat then yeah, not to exiting. But on the street, who says the fight has to stop when the guy passes out?

Why is it necessary to continue after he is out? did he rape or kill a member of your family? or are you just so tough that you "ENJOY" beating on helpless people? does it make you feel like a man?

I figured that my post would stir a response such as yours. I have no ego to uphold and trust me, I feel much enough like a man not to have to beat on "helpless people" (who coincidentally must not have been to helpless to start with).

                      Question:
How long do you think the guy who you just passed out is going to stay down? When we train, we have done "pass-out" drills before as I believe many other schools do as well. Point? If I get passed out, I need to be able to come to and have a level enough head to continue to guaranty my survival. Who is to say my enemy is not able to do the same?

                      Question 2:
I pass guy out, I try to leave, guy comes to but this time pulls the knife, gun or other weapon that he wasn't able to get to. I would sure hate to thing that I could have done more to secure my life. Not to mention had my g/f, friends, family been with me...

then perhaps putting him to sleep before operating on him is humane...but not very time efficient
i would rather have family watch me deanimate a functional opponent than have them see me finish off a disabled one...but i see your point...perhaps a neck break instead of a sleeper? or pants him...think hell chase you down the street without pants?

Well then... Pass out drills? That's like the second most assinine thing I've ever read of a school doing.

You put him to sleep he stays out LONG enough for you to get help or get away from him (out of range). You do not put him to sleep and then procede to take his life... That's murder. The whole IDEA of choking him out is to PREVENT trauma. If you can't get away or find help then you need to restrain him untill you can/do. While he is out cold you procede to search him for weapons/ ID etc. maybe he has a cell phone you can use to call 911? Secure his weapons and use whatever is at hand to bind him untill the ambulance or police/ medics get to the scene. Always try to help your victims get the medical attention they need, treat for shock and apply necessary first aid if needed.
