I do Taekwondo andmy friend does Shotokan so we had a pretty big andlong sparring session in the fieldof alocal highschool, we even wore our uniforms. Anyway I got a good round kick to his face and I also cuaght hisleg at one time and trip him up and threw him. Also he kicked my leg as I went for an axe kick and I fell backwards. he landed a good right hook punch to my face when we got in the clench. It was pretty good. We did not go full out it wasmore of a light hard contact and then we would lose control and start hitting hard and then realize we need to stop.

brefore that we did some randori and I triped him up a lot and swept his feet, but he also got some good throws too.

Yea, I can just imagine telling a street thug; "Wait a minute I can't defend my self because I haven't been to a proper school" LOL Just adapt, adapt, and adapt. Any sparring is better than no sparring.

          a) when did i ever mention a thug,
b i) Andrew MA doesn't train at a school but from a book, surely training at a school AND out of school would be hugely more effective?
b ii) i think most people would agree that training at a school is by far superior to training from a book
          C) go to a decent school and you will find plenty of different styles of sparring thus preparing you more solely for a real life situation, i doubt he has that many friends that train in MA and spar with him.

Sorry if I came off too strong, thanks for clearing that up. Maybe the kid cannot afford a real school yet. MA tuition is very expensive. He is just showing his dedication and desire by training and sparring on his own. One day, he may join a school and will probably be one of the most dedicated students there. Again, sorry if I came off too strong. No harm no foul.

              brag then humble

Well, I've put a few guys down to one knee in boxing who were less experienced but alot bigger and have been able to occasionally stagger guys my own level in kickboxing, but....

I've gotten my ass handed to me by guys who fight for a living or are on that track more times than I can remember. The smallest was a light weight professional with 18 fights, the largest was a cruiserweight with 40 fights. Usually, they were not even fighting at their full level, just enough to bang me up a little despite taking some of my best shots and outlasting me or hitting me to the ground.

I'm lucky enough to have the opportunities to spar with these guys and learned alot each time.

Have you seen his movie?-----"CHOKE" He is pretty damn good. It's not a bad mentality to have if you wanna take M. A. seriously. Even if you lose, It's still a good Mindset to have. IMHO

Even Rickson's been tapped in training - it's the only way to learn. Rolls used to tap him easily when he was younger. But he da man, no doubt IMHO
