When was your last fight or sparring match? How did you do?

My last sparring match was in October 05. I actually had two. One a backyard continuous sparring with my 16 year old brown belt nephew. {TKD}. The other at a Ground Seminar in Oct. 05. It was o.k. and I got a tap out from a fellow Black Belt. My tap out was with a front forearm strangle from the mount. It felt good to stay active @ 48 years of age.

It took a lot of character and courage to admit you lost. Most BJJ people claim to be undefeated.

Nah, I'm not all knowing, or the best, or undefeated. I do martial arts because I enjoy it, and I'm good at it.

The last time I sparred was last Tues. I've been doing a lot of shadow boxing and heavy bag work, and I'm noticing dramatic improvement in my hand speed On the other hand I need to pay more attention to my foot work, I got sloppy with my stance at one point and it cost me a trip to the floor

My last kickboxing sparring.. I got kicked in the nuts near the end of the round... but it was okay... cause I was getting my face smashed in....

My last bjj sparring sessions... hmmm...well I found out I need to work on my takedowns, or at least try new tactics... I feel my takedowns are solid (for my level) I just wasnt... putting them together nicely....

And I subbed a kid with a choke from the top of the half gaurd... he was a bastard.. went No-Gi in the Gi class.. thats just ignorant... I'd have to say that day was pretty good because a whole bunch of white belts had to roll with one of the blues and I was the only one not to get subbed... in the time period... hes subbed me plenty before.

I sparred last night at BJJ. I got a takedown/back control/choke combo on my friend (fellow blue belt), and almost triangled my training partner (triangle is his signature move) but ran out of time. I took it pretty easy in the sparring, but I didn't get tapped by anyone.

roughly last weel, won a few MMA back yard fights, one with a good spinning back kick and the other with a face-lock.

Yesterday, had a few fights in KSW won a few and got pummeled by an ex muay thai fighter, im young so i still have a lot to learn, he caught me with his crazy jumping, spinning back fist, its his 'signature move', he generates so much speed and so much speed, its uncredibly uneasy fighting him and nobody really knows how he has made it so effective!

I spar everytime I enter the gym. Don't keep track of who "won" as it's not important.

Stand up sparring or on the mat grappling?

I agree with doubleouch - when 'training' sparring it doesn't count who gets tapped as everyone's there to learn.

In terms of tourneys, there was a groundfighting comp on last weekend. The rules included 3 points for solid pins, and 5 points for a submission. I won all fights except one (explained below), most with two submissions (you get to carry on!), and didn't have a point scored against me.

But I'm most proud of the fact that the final in my weight category was against a white belt from my club (I'm blue). It was daft to fight him - as the gold & silver were coming back to the club anyway, it was his first tourney, and we didn't want to draw straws for it, so we agreed to have a roll. We played about with some moves, and I gave him a couple of advantages to take the gold. He still hasn't stopped grinning. This week he bought another new member to the club.

Then I managed to take gold in the veteran category. It needs to be noted that this was a local tourney, not the same standard as in the US or Brazil, but they were a great bunch of lads and it was a fun day out.

The whole point of this thread was to have fun and kinda get a feel for your fellow posters. Like who is active and who is inactive and to what extent.......

I have never sparred against a MAist from a differant style before, however i have found a Preying Mantis stylist at my work, who i am trying to sort out a sparring session with at the moment. So that should be fun, he seems up for it. I work 10 hour days 7 days a week at the moment as i have had to take on 2 jobs, so finding a time will be difficult but i'm determined

I've found a JKD school near me that has full contact sparring from when you start and also teaches Kali and BJJ so i'm definately gonna go that.

I have tried to and continue to spar as many different people as I can from as many different systems as I can find.
