Do you think that 17 is to late to start training in capoeira? And how long would you think it will take to learn all those spins and flips?

Places to train in NYC area

It's been awhile, but here are some places you might try:

Mestra Edna Lima from Abada Capoeira teaches in NYC. Last time I checked (maybe six years ago) they were teaching at Tom Bisio's Internal Arts in the Tribeca area . Professor Caxias, whose under Mestre Boneco of Capoeira Brasil was also teaching in the area as well.
Nego Gato teaches Capoeira Angola out of the Brooklyn area. He also has a student in the Barrio/Bronx area (check out nuyorico.com for info.). One of the greatest living mestres of capoeira angola- Joao Grande- was teaching out of a school on 14th st.
Also worth checking out in NJ is Mestre Cigano's school in Newark (Grupo Liberdade Dos Palmares), they have excellent people and an excellent space down there.
This info. is somewhat dated (I left the NYC/NJ area about 3 yrs. ago), but I have had the privilege to have trained with these people and/or their students and I think they are great places/people to learn with.
