I wrestle to supliment martial arts, not to win metals, if I loose I loose but it would be to larger more wrestling-oriented guys, I still learn. I think wrestling is fun, it provides me with a good workout, and there are things I can take from it to bring with me.

            Yeah, right.

Nobody seriously wrestles who doesn't seriously want to win.

              I am usually right.
What you said was either too complex or too simple for me.

of course i want to win, i try as hard as i can, but id rather learn than win, though both is preferable. that is not so absurd.

Actually in a sense it is absurd. If you are on a wrestling team how do you learn if you don't give 100% to win. What Jubaji is saying and I certainly agree, is everyone loses, but the intent is to win a match. If that is not your goal you are playing and not being serious about wrestling which also translates into how well you learn and utilize its techniques. I don't understand how you think you could "loose" to "larger" opponents that are in the same weight class

Also, out of curiosity, is this a new program (team) starting this year. It seems odd that the season schedule is not yet completed. And Do you know that you are starting @120 or is there no one else at that weight (in other words did you wrestle-off).

There are 2 or 3 other kids who will be at 125 when we finally get into it.

Also, yeah of course I want to win, i guess winning is nice. However, winning is a byproduct of learning and training as you said. If I could learn nothing but somehow get instant pins or win all my matches by the other guy disqualifying myself I wouldn't do that. I want to learn takedowns and takedown defence, plus wrestling really helps with getting a feel for momentum and contolling your own weight and other people's weight. As I said, I want to learn, though winning and learning is obviously most enjoyable. We make money so we can be happy, I suppose we win by learning technique. I would rather be happy than rich, though both would be fine because I could do good things with that money. This drive to learn and grow over all else isn't something I just came up with on this forum to piss off wrestlers, its a common theme in sports, and in most sports winning is desirable as well, both is "best".

I give a 100% to LEARN, I could not learn at all and fight as hard as I can on the mat and I will suck, but again, both is preferable.

Have fun at 125 dan, ur gunna get ur ass handed too you with the mental mindset you have. You'd be better off trying to cut to 103 and attempt to make it there against the little guys. Learn all you want in practice dan, when you get on the mat, LEARNING should not be your main concern. I'm guessing your main concern will be staying off your damn back. When you step on the mat you have to bring everything you got. The other guy isn't going to let up man, he's goin all out every period. He's not going to stop to let your "learn". If you have anything on your mind except winning, he's gunna tie you up in a knot and make you suck your own dick.

Learn at practice Dan, WIN on the mat.

I would personally choose wrestling over judo.
