  • The "Equipment" of MMA/BJJ

I'm just wondering if I can get some help as to what someone would need/want to have for MMA/BJJ. Like, what I mean is:
In Muay Thai, you need Boxing gloves as a bare minimum, but in most cases you would want to have gloves, shorts, shinpads, elbow pads, etc etc. When you guys train? what do you use for equipment? I know of the cobra gloves, that's really about it.

    In order of importance

    1. Cup
    2. Mouth Guard
    3. Boxing Gloves
    4. Shin pads
    5. Vale tudo gloves/grappling gloves (the ones they use in UFC/pride etc)

For standup training our place uses 1-4, for grappling just 1+2 and we add 5 when we add striking.

    Hope that helps.

if your just training BJJ, you don't need shit except a reasonable surface to roll around on. If you have braces, yeah you need a mouth gaurd. If your one of those people that gets tagged ever so lightly in the groin area and makes a big deal about it and goes down, then yeah a cup would be good for yeah too. Because I train my BBJ with a guy out in the country, we just go at it on a small mat or if it's even close to decent outside, we do it outdoors.

Basically you need a mat dude. Or a surface while your comforatable being dropped on.

4 ouncers, mouthgaurd, cup. For everything then if it's MMA.

PS always wrestle in your gloves if you can, helps you get used to them.
