guardsman, you do the Old Waza which incorporates the Old Guard rather than the New Guard. You really should give it a try.

gungfuhero, It's really a matter of preference, some prefer the Old Waza and some prefer the updated New Waza. I've heard of Ne Waza but its really not as good as the Old Waza if you ask me.

okay, I am somewhat familiar with Ne Waza (ground fighting),
but could anyone give examples of the diff between New & Old Waza?

            Ronnie.

                  rockinronnie,

Old Waza involved more pressure point submissions and "barrell rolling". New Waza focuses on submission over position.

What do you mean by barrel rolling? Did the old waza emphasize postion more?

Old Waza emphasized submission over position. Barrel rolling is a training technique that's used to develop "feel" for your opponent.
