  • Hypothetical question

If you could only study one art out of these what would it be? I am not asking which is best for anything in particular so no "depends on what for" cop outs please. and why?

I am asking as these are the arts i have had access to over the years and was just curious as to what would other ppl would have done in my situation.

I would have picked the group of people I felt most comfortable with.

      I wont answer this ;p
Studying one art depends on what you want from it. What I would have done?
I would have done shaolin kung fu since i was 5 :P but right now, I discovered martial arts too late, I'm 16 and I don't want to spend 10 years to learn a martial art. So right now I do whatever I think is effective and you can learn it fast. If I had the opinion to learn any martial art I want, I'd learn all of them :P Everytime I see a new martial art demonstration/fight/anything, I get really interested in it.

You don't include all the arts ;(

Would be ninjitsu for me, the art has pretty much everything involved. I never really liked the strikes but the theory is sound. Use anything at your disposal to disable and then get away.

would not. Because you can't afford it?How old are you?
My brain pattern set does not have a response for that.

Of the ones listed I would probably pick ninjutsu because it has full body movement (though I guess that's technically the "budo taijutsu" part) but if I could only pick one art it would be FMA all the way, baby. I think it's the most practical for what my goals are.

I study five animal Kung Fu and kempo. The Kung Fu feeds my head and it's everything I thought It would be. The Kempo feeds my body and it's what was missing from my Traditional Martial Arts training.

I agree completely. All of those arts have a lot to offer, so I would have investigated the schools and chosen the instructor/community that felt right for me.

Depends on how each place trains, and what you want out of the martial arts. If you want to learn how to rip out tendons and stuff, Mantis would prolly be the first pick, if you like winning MA competition, judo has plenty to offer there. If you like punching air and standing like a statue in combat, then Karate would be your choice (joke...?)

Also yeah, the poeple who are there make a difference as well.
