    Endurance
It seems that the number one ingredient to a win in almost any sport is endurance
After seeing Karelin lose it was apparent that he was not out wrestled but endurance was the factor to his defeat.
I don't care how much you may know if you run out of gas it's your ass

Yeah the russians claim he is 33. What a crock. Seeing as he was trying to win his 4th consecutive Gold which is 16 yrs of Olympic competiton that makes him 17 yrs old when he won his first Gold. I have a bridge for sale....

              21 at first olympics

according to the NBC page he was 21

              Sport: Wrestling
              Event: Greco-Roman 130kg (286 lbs)
              Born: September 19, 1967
              Birthplace: Novosibirsk, Russia
              Residence: Novosibirsk, Russia
              Height: 6-foot-3 1/4
              Weight: 282 lbs.

Karelin has been the Opening Ceremony flag bearer for his nation at each of his three Olympics. The honor normally goes to a Games veteran, but Karelin carried the flag in his debut in 1988.

Someone please fill me in. I watched that match and was totally lost. I have never seen Grecko wrestling before. It looked pretty lame to me. Can they not do takedowns?

What I saw was two out of shape guys shoulder pushing each other. How in the hell did that fat ass american (im american so I can say that) get that far?
Did he beat our best to get there? He didn't even do anything to win.

Plus they kept talking about conditioning, conditioning, conditioning??? WTF!! Neither man was doing anything. It reminded me of Sumo. You know, where the guys keep saying "his conditioning is excelent". Yea for about 5 seconds. LOL

EJ, I couldn't agree with you more.
                  Can they not do takedowns?
Grappler, in Greco-Roman wrestling you cannot go for the legs. All takedowns must be executed from the waist and above without using your legs to assist in the takedown.
