GSP and Hughes first was was pretty decent. It looked like GSP was going to win but then that armbar came out of nowhere. I think GSP just underestimated Hughes submission skills. Come to think of it so did I, GSP was dominating the fight up untill that point though. And I think he has gotten better since, I think the last fight I saw was him against Trigg, he just outclassed that guy.

It was funny to see Trigg talking shit before the fight saying that GSP hadn't fought anyone of substance and that he was going to be GSP's first real fight. I wasn't really surprised though, GSP is a top notch fighter standing or on the ground. But after the fight Trigg congratulated GSP a few times which does show some class.

BJ is the real champion. He has the belt in his dresser at home. A lot of people dont know this because most people got involved in mma when TUF started to air on Spike TV. By then BJ was already stripped of his title because he fought Ludwig in the K-1. Dont be surprised to see BJ walking into the octagon with the real belt around his waist.

Let me be the first to say it, and you guys who train in grappling know this, if a guy can tap you out with a RNC as easily as Penn did to Hughes, things repeat themselves, and the fight will end the same way. Penn by RNC

          1. i dont know what penn has been doing for the last year or 2...didnt he go to jail?

          2. hughes has been training his ass off, doing nothing butt getting better

          3. i doubt penn will beat him with a RNC

i think penn is awesome, im not arguing that, i just would like to see where hes at before facing hughes. i personally want to see GSP kick the sh*t out of hughes...and im a hughes fan.

No, Penn did not go to jail. But he has been fighting over the past couple years. Also he has been training a lot too.

He did not leave the UFC. Dana stripped him because he fought in the K-1 against Duane Ludwig. He is a fighter and all he wanted to do was keep on fighting while he was in between fights, but Dana White did not like the idea so he stripped him. Since then they have been fighting in court while BJ was still fighting in the Rumble of The Rock/K1 and in Japan. And now he is back.

Penn's been getting fat and smashing Gracies for the past little bit, not jail lol.

He's a great fighter, although I dont think he will kill... actually I might give the fight to hughes now... hughes in a fight..

Hughes obviously has upped his submission defense, and sub skills after that fight... dont think he will get caught in a RNC again

                        Question...

                        Why do you hate Dana?

It was right of him to strip Penn of the title... you dont go around fighting for other organizations when your under a contract with one, and when you are the champ of one.

Think about if Penn gets hurt in a fight.. now Dana cant have his champion fight anyone?... How is that good for business...

It was a smart business move.. fighter or not hes gotta respect the contracts he signs.

God damn I hate that ahshole Hughes, he thinks he is sooooo fucking great, and really he isnt that good at all. I have to rank Penn tossing that ahshole around like a child and submitting him via the (humiliating) RNC as one of my favorite fights.

matt has beaten gsp once already by spinning arm bar as somebody has already said before it was over real quick.maybe if he gets another shot it will be a better fight this time i think he had the nerves up being in the cage for the first time and matt finished him so quickly and with such a basic technique it was his debut right?I do believe penn is the man seeing as he went up in weight and finished matt quite easily i couldnt believe it seeing bj dominate matt in the strength department

Was his third fight actually, it was a title match for the vacant welterweight belt.

First two were Karo Parisyan and Jay Hieron. He won both though. Only loss is to Hughes so far.

I dont know what fight everyone was watching but GSP dominated Hughes(besides Hughes getting like 2 takedowns and laying and praying) GSP took Matt down with ease.. tagged him with the jab and landed a spinning back kick that sent Matt across the cage into the fence. There was less then ten seconds left on the clock and Matt was punching and decided to go for the armbar...GSP's corner told him, that time was going to run out and to let Hughes get it so he dosn't waste any energy....the corner had the wrong time(off by 1 second) and thats why GSP had to tap out at the bell.Hughes got very very lucky in that fight. Its been Officially signed that GSP will now face BJ at UFC 58 for the number one contendership of the paper belt Hughes holds.
