Books and vids are great if you allready know a little or have someone who has trained a little to help you out.

You gotta get into a school or at least get a few boys who also like grappling, learn with them, test moves/strategy. A great book is "Mastering Jujitsu" by Renzo Gracie, this gives you plenty of info on martial arts history/theory, bjj history/theory, and some good moves, basics that work well.
