  • Strong Points of Various BJJ Schools

This is a generalization on my part, but have you noticed any "strong point" or specialties of various BJJ teams, or camps?

Here are a couple that have been my experience. If you train with any of these, i'd love to hear your imput!

Carlson Gracie Team: Attacking at all times,
excellent guard sweeps (and even their
    sweeps are offensively minded)
Also seem to use knee in belly a lot
    more than other teams.

Gracie Torrance: Big closed guard players, strong
    mount. Very position oriented.

Machado: Excellent guard passes, strong side
mount. Use more leglocks than others.

Renzo/Ralph: Very good at taking the back,
    very aggressive, good takedowns.

There lots of other teams, that I just don't know anything about... Next Gen, Alliance, etc. Any imput?

i train at renzo gracie academy in nyc.i've been there for almost four years.renzo competes so much and so does the renzo gracie team.everytime renzo even speaks he speaks with the expierience of a seasoned battle tested warrior.you can clearly see this as he shows positions.he has been there both in the academy and in wars.he is a philosipher as well as a great teacherand fighter.these are very strong points for our academy.not to mention being able just chill after class watch and learn from some of the worlds best his students, family and friends like rodrigo gracie, ricardo almedia, matt and nick serra, ryan gracie rolls gracie jr.,nino, fetiosa, luca, just to name a few.we in the new york area are very privlaged and honored to have renzo and be a part of his strong academy.it is trully the essence of jiu jitsu and more then any die hard student can ask for.
