Carlson Sr had one last fight, but this was in the hospital. Unfortunately, sooner or later, you will lose the ultimate fight against the Grim Reaper and this time he won and took one GREAT man.
I've had the honor and privilige to have met and hang out with Carlson Sr for many years since he is my teacher's master. I train with Rey Diogo and Rey has always looked up and treated Carlson Sr as his father, Carlson Jr as his brother.
In face, Carlson's daughter lives on the next block so I would see Sr and Jr quite a bit when they were here in LA.
I believe I can say that Carlson Sr has contributed more to current martial arts than anyone else today. His impact on the martial arts world will always be there, like hand prints in cement. We all have great Carlson stories and will be shared in the days, weeks and months to come. When Carlson was at tourament, he was always gracious to be stopped and would take pictures with anyone who asked. AND he would always be one to help and keep a keen out for anyone talented. Eye for talent was his expertise. He's produced so many great champion martial artitsts.
I've heard that his body will be sent down to Brazil to be buried. More details will be forth coming.
Carlson Sr may you Rest In Peace.
Condolences to the Gracie family who lost a true CHAMPION Fighter.
