  • Am I told old?

    thanks for the advice

  • #2
Nope, plenty of great fighters started later in life, and plenty more focused on wrestling until changing over to MMA in thier twenties, so you're fine. However, you should make sure you want to do this, and also do it for the right reasons, otherwise your detication will not be worthwhile.

Hell no, 16 isn't too old to do anything... quit worrying and start training.

        Use the force

Luke skywalker was thought to be to old as well, but as we all know he turned out to the best mma of them all!

Hahaha, I started training when I was 15. Youre fine. Most MMA guys started in wrestling. The evolution of the sport is taking on a life of its own. It used to be either youre a wrestler, a boxer, foreign fighter, or street fighter. Now there is MMA training camps and BJJ schools. Everyone remembers when the Gracies came to MMA, everyone ran to BJJ schools.

            Sorry Dude,
Your window of opportunity has passed long ago.
You know this to be true and that's why your asking.
Martial Arts is for the young so take a Geritol, sit
in your rocking chair and dream of what you could have been.

            PS
            I'm only 41

I doubt Randy Couture ever asks himself if he's too old to be in the UFC.

Have you been in many street fights or fights after school? If you have, then you have an edge. See, I got in fights all the time, I would square up and hit somebody, usuaully it would be a black gansta guy messing with me, as hard as I could....and waalaaa......nothing would happen. Yes, it was disheartening, to hit someone and they didnt fall to the ground like they do on TV or in the movies. Thus, I decided without KO power, being a fighter of anykind isnt my game. Though I can grapple at least these days.
So if you want to be in MMA, train in the things you mentioned and get into some street fights and see how you do

train hard, man. You too stand a .0001% chance of making it to the 8,000 dollar a year glory they call the UFC.

Seriously: make sure you do well in school. go to college. do MMA as a side thing.

Yeah i guess I was just thinking too hard about being to old. thanks for the help guys im starting my BJJ training very soon.

once you get some training in BJJ, you wont be nervous anymore, because there isnt anything the guy is going to do to you that you cant stop

...how about 12 of his friends kicking you in the head while you have him in a rear naked?
