  • Abu Dhabi lineup

What do you guys think of this lineup:

    Four man tournament- Gis optional.

    Rickson Gracie
    vs.
    Alexander Karelin

    Bruce Baumgartner
    vs.
    Yamashita

Assuming all competitors were in their prime, which I believe they all were in the early 90's, I would have to go with Baumgartner.

In a time limit match I agree with you. No time limit I have to take Rickson. None of the wrestlers have the ability to finish and you can only stall for so long.

In the prime of life, none of these guys are going to submit Rickson.

At LEAST not without a few years of homework.

Lacrymosa I agree, but the post says Abu Dhabi rules. Baumgartner could score a takedown and stall. POints are an issue in this style.

So, it seems that we are all in agreement that Rickson has the best chance of submitting anyone. Do you guys think Baumgartner would have trouble in the standup against Karelin or Yamashita?

Not at all. Freestyle wrestlers have proved their dominance in the standup game of submission fighting. Coleman, Kerr, Erickson, Randleman, Cotoure, Henderson, Trigg, etc are living proof of the superiority of freestyle wrestling's takedowns.

              Freestyle roiding

Can you come up with anyone that is not a walking pharmacy. Mark "the steroid" Kerr, Mark "the Steroid" Coleman, Ken & Frank "the steroid" Shamrock, etc....and all their cronies to include Don "the steroid" Frye and his steroid cronies. These insecure cheaters that cannot compete on there own skill, strength and intestinal fortitude should have to compete in there own Steriod division.

The real fighters; Sak, Rickson, Royce, etc... should not even be spoken in the same sentence as the above mentioned gutless druggies.

              P.S. No offense.

Cleatus I understand your frustration since you are a little skinny man. You train in the weight room daily and still no results. But if you think taking steroids makes these guys tough you are sadly mistaken. If becoming a champion was as easy as taking a pill anyone could do it. Even you.

                  Ground Control:

I was a nationally ranked weightlifter before you did your first cycle of steroids. Go to http://www.usaweightlifting.org, click on results of 1998, 1999, 2000 national wieghtlifting championships. You will find me in the top 10 of the 105k each of these years.

Now go back to your bathroom and give yourself another shot of testerone in hopes of someday achieving what some of us do naturally.(unlike you and your steroid using boyfriends, we are subject to No Advance Notice (NAN Program) drug testing by the United States Olympic Committe. If your curious why I'm here instead of Sydny, the U.S. men only earned two spots at the Olympics.

Cleatus I am not impressed. I have won numerous powerlifting meets in my time. I also held the teen age world record in the bench press in 88. I benched 521lbs in the 275 class. I broke Dave Pasenella's record of 519. I also won the USPF JR. Nationals in St. Petersburg FLA the year prior. Rick Weil was the meet director.

But all that means squat in the ring bro. It is a free country. People are free to take what they want. I sure don't need someone like you to tell me what is good for me and what isn't.

I am not encouraging the use of steroids.(I have been clean for 10 years) But there is use and abuse. And the fact that you do not pay respect to these guys tells me you know nothing about the fight game.

It takes much more then a needle in the ass to become a champion. These guys all bust ass in the gym, spar countless hours, do tons of cardio, and make all the necessary sacrifices it takes to win.

Until you get the balls to climb thru the ropes or enter the cage and bleed save your crying for your olympic lifting pals. Atleast they will get you a crying towel.
Again I understand you are jealous, but some of us are just genetically gifted. Keep on trying you may get there some day. Until then keep trying to convince yourself that steroids are the reason they succeed where you fail.

                        Mr. Control:

Where in my post did I mention the steroid fighters having no work ethic? Have the steroids blurred your vision?

I have obviously hit upon a nerve. I never said roid fighters weren't talented or that they didn't have a work ethic. Obviously they do. You still have to spend the time in the gym or steroids have no effect.(Steroids do make people much more aggressive, as proven by your post)

The point is don't compare a roid freak to natural fighters like the Gracies. You are comparing apples to tumors.

Power lifting is not an Olympic sport because it take absolutely no atheleticism. Any idiot off the street can do enough steriods to break all kinds of junior records. My hats off to you. Your only goal in life is to be as big and strong as you can be with no regard to the health ramifications, like Lyle Alzado.

Guys like you make everyone laugh. You think you are the envy of everyone. Your not. You are the laughing stalk of everyone in the gym. Your only the envy of young steroid users that pump your ego by treating you like the gym hero.

Powerlifting has a lot to do with athleticism. Besides gymnasts and wrestlers, powerlifters are among the most flexible people. The form needed to learn to powerlift properly also takes years to learn and train. Just getting all of your muscles to fire together for a powerclean or a jerk or snatch is a very difficult thing to do. That would just be like saying sprinting is running real fast or hurdling is running with some jumping. It takes great athleticism to be a power lifter, not just raw, brute strength.

                            Jason:

You are absolutlely correct. I was not speaking of Weightlifting; most commonly referred to as Olympic weightlifting. I was speaking of strait power lifting: the bench, squat and deadlift.

Cleatus guys like you are the ones people are laughing at. I really do not need to debate you on the positives and negatives of steroid use because you have no idea of what you are talking about.

Lyle Alzado died from brain cancer. This cancer was accelerated by his abuse of Growth Hormone which is not an anabolic steroid. For your information there has not been one documented example of a death caused by steroids.

Olympic lifters such as yourself(if you even lift) are jealous of powerlifters because they are stronger than you. Because of your lack of strength you hide behind your "technique" and say that anyone can be a powerlifter. Please do not cry because I can bench more than you can clean and jerk.

If you reside on the east coast I would be more than happy to meet you in the gym sometime. Even better I would be glad to roll on the mat with you sometime and see who's lifting practices are more conducive to grappling.

By the way you did question those fighters "skill, strength and intestinal fortitude" so my vision is fine. I guess steroids make those people more skilled. Maybe if you took steroids you would be able to roll like a bjj black belt. They also must give them the intestinal fortitude to make the necessary sacrifices to be successful. What an idiot you are. Listen to your remarks and you will see who people are truly laughuing at.

You are one of the many who believe if they took steroids they would be world champions. That attitude is to be expected because you are an uninformed little troll. Keep using steroids as the scapegoat for your own personal failures. Making excuses will get you far in life.
