hes paralyzed right now for about month.. he was working on his movie accidental spy, and one day he found that his whole lower body was not working.. doctors said it was from the cartilage being damaged. they found that the disks in his back were smooth, which is not supposed to be. this is from the years and years from doing dangerous stunts, he should retire soon..

I don't know if he's paralyzed (sp?) now, but he's going to be filming part of Rush Hour 2 here in the beginning of February. If he shows up with a walker, then I'll be sure to stay away from the Bowflex™.

BTW, Masala that was pretty harsh man (I was laughing the whole time, but c'mon man, that's harsh )

Mata, what's the design flaw, and how can us flabby losers get one for cheaper?

im sure the bowflex is a good piece of a equipment to buy, id get one if i had the money.. jackie was out for about a month in a wheel chair before jumping back into stunts adter he could walk again. the 10 producers of the movie that he was working on all ended up in the hospital with stress related illnesses..

All I can say is wow....

I never realized martial artists were prone to such injuries on the BowFlex! I wonder if they will recall it. Is that "Design Flaw" responsible for the spine problems?

Masala, email me and give me any information you might have. I guess I'll lay off it for a while. My back HAS been sore lately. I thought it was due to those Tai Choi Fun positions but maybe not. I'm making an appointment with my doctor first thing tomorrow. I'll let you guys know what happens! THanks!!!

Blowflex is a rip. Only a moron would be influenced by their slick advertising.

The design flaw is related to one of the attachments. The baseline machine is desiged to work without any attachements (for leg exercises, pull-downs, etc.) You just lay on the bench and position yourself so that you can work the muscles you want. Theoretically, you can do all the exercises without the attachments. However, for people who want a more traditional feel, they have some attachments, most of which are grossly overpriced. The one attachment that I feel is worth it is the overhead tower. It allows you to do things like pull-downs for working your lats. Don't get the leg-exercises attachment. It doesn't give you that many more useful exercises, and with an ounce of creativity, you can figure out how to do the same stuff without it. Also, you can't fold the bench up out of the middle of the floor with the leg thing attached.

Anyway, I got the overhead tower, and, as I mentioned, the machine is desiged to work without it. Once you put it on, the bench rests up against the tower instead of on the original supports that are supposed to hold up the bench. They put a pumper pad on the tower to keep it from getting damaged, but it obviously didn't occur to them that the pressure of the bench against the overhead tower would cause the vinyl to slowly be rubbed off the bench and ruined.

The solution to the problem is to buy a piece of black 1 1/4" PVC pipe, split it down the middle and cup it over the end of the bench, then bolt it into place. It covers the end of the banch, rests up against the bumper pad and prevents the bench from getting damaged.

Like I said, a MINOR design flaw.

As far as getting one cheaper. My brother got his before I got mine, and he told them that he had seen an advertisement saying that if he mentioned the commercial he could get a free attachment of his choice (normally $250). He got the overhead attachment for free. When I called, I said that I'd used one before and that the person who referred me said that he got a free overhead attachment. They gave me the same deal. I recommend telling them on the phone that you have a friend (me) who got a free attachment OR that you saw the commercial.

Also, I recommend getting an additional pair of 50 lb. resistance rods. There are too many exercises that I do that require more wieght.

I don't know of the BowFlex paralyzing anyone, but since I started using it, I've started suffering from coldsores, angina, periapical cemental dysplasia, and premature ejaculation. Does anyone think I should sue?
