Some of these responses are unbelievable!

First of all in this scenario there is a clear good guy! And by all means cut, slash, get the gun, do whatever. If you get the gun empty it. It is better for you and your wife to be tried by twelve than carried by six times two. Rape is a crime against a woman that seems to me is worse than death. To everyone with their no clear line argument: What scenario did you read? The woman is being attacked.
Society is not becoming more viscous “normal” people are just becoming more subdued. We have a natural right to defend our lives and the lives of our loved ones from the despotism of heinous people.
As for the answer to your question: Kali or a system aimed at realistic weapons training. Oh and you might consider pepper spray, a stun gun, an ASP, or some other weapon. But always remember nothing trumps a gun. The best preparation for this type of attack is to learn awareness, plan your routes, and have a plan.

Indeed, but I don't think people who don't carry weapons are irresponsible people.

Again, if you gotta fight, you fight, because you must or you/your family will surely be harmed. I try to stay away from creepy places as much as possible, and stay aware, I have never needed a weapon and I don't know anyone that has ever wished they had a weapon on them.

Oh I agree Dan, I don't think a person is 'weak' for not carrying a weapon, but if you live in a high crime area and are going to frequent questionable places it's best to be safe and carry something. Even if it's only a portable fire extinguisher tucked in your purse (of course this only applies to females unless you carry a backpack). By the way those are legal to carry anywhere.

His friends comes up beside him and your wife, -- the man is armed with a knife.
The man with the hidden gun whose 6'4" and 200 criminal says to your wife come with me to my car I want to talk to you in a aggresive voice.

Your wife says "help me!" and you the BJJ Blackbelt, and Professional Kickboxer feel tough and yearn to protect your wife who stands only 5'1" and 130 lbs. So you go after the guy with her.

You are ready to attack him but he says I have a gun, don't fu*k with me. He grabs your wife in a bear hug and starts to take her to the car. He's not interested in fighting you but kidnapping and later raping your wife and perhaps later Killing her.

What would you do in this position. Remember the knife wielding attacks simply looks on at his friend to watch for oncoming police.

his scenario scares the hell out of me. I may feel comfortable defending myself, and somewhat capable of SURVIVING an armed attack. But When my wife is the target and she is threatened to be shot by the gunman all my MA skills are useless.

          What would YOU DO?

Where would this happen? If I go someplace that looks bad, I pack heat, not kidding. I carry a 8-shot pea-pod .22 Jennings in my pocket loaded with stinger hollow tips. I keep it in the car, but if I get out somewhere unpleasent looking, it comes with me. Any sign of someone messing with me or the family is getting one in the mellon without hesitiation.

In the scenario posted, it's irrelevant whether you have a weapon or not; at least as far as you next move is concerned. The salient point (made by Tanto1) is that you must act EARLIER.

Here is the scenario again with one alternate solution:

Three guys approach you and your wife - you are a pro-kickboxer and a BJJ blackbelt. As soon as that first guy gets in arms reach, you hit him hard in the face and use that opening to shoot and drop him on the pavement as hard as you can without going down yourself (you're a BJJ blackbelt, remember). Now turn on the the next nearest guy and continue from there.
At some point they will either retreat or they will kill you; however your odds are much better if you attack them - and attack before somebody has hold of your wife. You must take control of the situation away from them.

Spearing the dude on the concrete would probably incapacitate him for a long time...but you'd end up on the ground. Most untrained are used to muscling their way in a clinch and rarely see or are prepaired for a well set up shoot. Same time, the other guy could be walking off with your honey or disengage her and try to sucker punch you.

Many BJJ black belts are also skilled in other arts, so once they slam one dude, don't be suprised if they pull out a foldable or something with .40 caliber knockdown power.

Alot of guys who are pro-ring fighters come from street backgrounds too.

So how about a hip throw? How about an arm between the legs, lift and slam? Or, if you don't know a good throw, how about following your first punch with three more?
The point I'm making is not that this move or that weapon will provide the magic bullet. The point is that you act before they get control of the situation and that you act decisively.

Thats a very good call, I was taking it a bit further and recomending to stay away from such places. However, if that situation arrises you have to take control and act quickly. And yeah, there is no magic bullet, because even if you avoid crappy places, you can still be mugged, even if you have a knife, they might have a gun, even if you have a gun, you may be shot first, etc....

Anything that small needs to be VERY CLOSE to do much damage... My buddy Tom calls them nose guns for obvious reasons...

If he's a SERIOUS threat and you are "reasonably" in fear for your life you shove that little thing up his nose and try to get it in the grey matter...

I know a guy that survived being shot in the face at close range by a .25... he's kinda ugly and blind but still alive...

You're right. Its just when you are in the go zone, you only think about 4, maybe 5 techniques that you know well. Good points.

Obviously you havent seen or missed the detail "stinger hollow tips". These little bastards can do some serious damage, even from a turd .22

                          Obviously.... I've been shooting 22's since I was 10... (that's more than 30 years)
You think it will do "serious damage" COMPARED TO WHAT? Hollow points will tear up small game...It's still a .22 Cal. and as useless as many consider that to be it's a HUGE step up from nothing at all... I know I don't want to be shot with a .44 Magnum but I also know I DON'T want to be shot with a nose gun...It's a deterrent if not the most deadly weapon in the world... Or is it? More people have been killed by .22's than any other gun made...

I like the Mini-Mag ammo myself but to each his own...
