If the Hapkido man studied boxing(for example) or trained mostly to punch an opponents face, he could have really HURT Rorian since he barely had his hands up. But the truth is that in a Striking vs. Grappling scenario, the grappler usually wins(but can suffer damage from strikes). We have all established that GJJ can kick all MA butts in Dojo(or Doyho) challenge matches, but a college wrestler(using strikes and/or applying a lot of pressure from mount) would have done the same to any of those Hapkido or Kung Fu masters because they had little or no grappling experiance and instruction.

But aside from that, is it possible to choke someone out with both of your legs squeezing around your opponents neck? I really think it is, atleast it might roll them over into an inferior position and make them really uncomfortable.

I doubt the Hapkido guy was really trying to strike him in the face, because he would have knocked him out!
the hapkido guy went for rorians groin multiple times as pointed out in the video. all it did was make rorion choke his ass out.

however, i really didnt like how in the video they would keep talking about bjj as if its some "highly specialized specialized, scientific self defense system". all they did is realize that judo/jiu jitsu is a good martial art to train in.

I've seen way better Hap Ki Do than that, I bet the Hap Ki Do guy must have been holding back so that he didn't kill the guy in white right.

No, its impossible (well I guess it could be possible but 99.9% of the time).

The reason being is you would get too much of their head in the way of the pressure and not enough of their neck.

It's just like if you squeezed with your arms around their chin, your not getting to the corroted (sp?) arteries.

The triangle choke is a good example, you NEED the opponents arm in their to attack the one side of the neck while your leg attacks the other side.

Its a dirty grappling move(something that Hapkido should capitalize on ), but it will make most people tap out just because you can put so much pressure on their head/jaw/neck, but its definetly not a clean submission. I think Wing Chun has a ground defense move like that though.

yeah, you do know who trainglegchoke is though right? its tkd person, the guy who asks a question, then never believes anyones answers so he ends up asking the same question in a different way over and over again, never happy with the answers he hears.

Rorion knows how to aply far more dirty grappling than that hapkido man, and if it was a street fight, Rorion would be able to impliment those non-sportive techniques to his advantage way more than the HKD guy.

Are you really this stupid? Did you fall out of the dumb ass tree and hit every branch on the way down? Yeah the Hapkito guy should have guaged Rorions eye out, so Rorion would have broken both the guys arms and both his knee joints, and probably wouldnt have stopped there. The hapkito guy is total pussy, a white belt in BJJ could have beaten that idiot idiot E A S I L Y
