Monson, i dunno, he couldnt finish Pe De Pano.........but then again Sylvia couldnt finish Assuerio Silva.
    Possible UFC 60 welterweight matches...
    Diego Sanchez vs. Karo Parisyan
    Sean Sherk vs. Thiago Alves

And the LW matches will probably begin at UFC 60

Sherk is going to be damn near unstoppable at 155lbs. Also about the PPV there was no way for Arlovski to stop the barrage tim had him held down tight while reigning punches down...it was all over...Also Arlovski tried to capatilize on it put tim stood up with the help of the fence.

Monson is one of the top 3 heavy weights... along with Sylvia and Arlovski. He couldn't finish him because of the height diff(he is still a better striker with a 4-0 pro boxing record). Sylvia... he won't want to strike with, even though technically he is better, Sylvia's height would kill him. Once he takes him to the ground though, it'll be all over.

Monson is a very good fighter...but if you think he can take sylvia down your on drugs...he will get KO'ed brutally in the first round...hes wayyyy to slow to compete with either AA or Tim.

He wouldn't want to strike with Arlovski either, Arlovski trains like a pro boxer(5 times a week boxing for 3 hours each session) and though still, he might be technically better, his height will be a deterent.

If you think he CAN'T, then YOU'RE on drugs. He still is a pro boxer, rememeber that, he can take and defend shots to take him down. He IS a 2 time world submission grappling champion, and can and will take down AA or Sylvia. It wouldn't be anywhere near the same fight on the ground with AA though, seeing as to how he is a world Sambo champ... I think he could take it to AA on the ground though.

And honestly, he is very explosive at times. He fights in a methodical, patient way, but has had fights where he was explosive.

He may be able to but its very very unlikely...Tim is 6'8 257+ with a great sprawl...and monsons stand up is nowhere near sound...his technique is horrible and hes slow...he just hits very hard...but tim hits alot harder.I cant believe im saying such things of the guy when i dont even like him...

Actually, Monson's stand up is very technical... I'm not sure you've ever seen him fight? And, as Joe Rogan said during his fight last night, he's got as much technique as power(4-0 pro boxer, sorry to sound repetitive but it's true). Tim hits harder because of the height difference... But as far as strength goes Monson takes it. I think he also has the practical power, though Tim would appear to have more of due to height.

Yes im sure youve seen Monson fight many many times before...he got mauled by Ricco Forrest Chuck....If you saw Ricco's fight with Monson you will see why he has absolutely no shot on the feet...but then again he has improved since then but if you saw last night he had immense problems with Pe de Pano's reach and he is absolute crap on the feet and still managed to tag up Monson very well and Monsons defence sucked he was wide open with his jab blocks..swatting his hands down way to much i can just imagine if he tried to strike with Sylvia.Being a 4-0 Pro Boxer means absoluely nothing its a horrible point to bring up...you should know when Pro's just start out its 4 rounders against other beginers...big freakin deal he fought no name comp...being a begining pro boxer fighting in MMA means dog squat.Just look at what happened to Ray Sefo when he fought a medicore boxer under boxing rules...he got KTFO.Monson is nowhere near the top of boxings elite...so stop with the Pro stigma it makes no sense.

Wait a sec... as for the whole Forrest Chuck thing... Monson was not healthy at such a low weight, and didn't fight as well... plus the whole boxing thing is a later developement... And for those reasons those fights are no longer applicable to predicting and understanding how he fights now. As for the other night... I didn't see him leaving himself open, I just saw a taller guy tag him with knees(that's where the damage was done, not punches) and Monson knock him down with good, solid shots when he could get in. And, I didn't say he should strike with Sylvia, I said he shouldn't. I said he could properly defend himself in order to take it to the ground. And he is a pro. Period. If you're a pro, you're good. I never said he was elite... lol. He's no Tyson, and of course he still is improving. (6 rounders is what they start out with most of the time). I was bring it up only because he has fought other guys who are at least decent(you don't go pro usually if you suck... not always true, but mostly). And he won all 4. I'm not sure what you're trying to get at. I'm sorry, untill you bring a more valid point up, I'm going to have to go with Monson having a good fighting shot at Sylvia, and a somewhat decent shot at AA.

They should put AA vs. Monson in the future, winner fights Sylvia!

For the sake of ending this debate im going to agree that Monson has a shot and a very good one its just that i feel Tim is going to be too much for him...the only way to find out is for them to fight.

Monson has an awesome take down, and IF he got Silvia down it would be all over, without question. Silvia would KO him before it got that far, maybe. Monson is pretty good, give him a shot at least. He would do much better against SIlvia than agianst Arlovski, because Arlovski's ground game is better than Silvias
