names that should've been there; Guro Dan, Adjarn Chai, Erik Paulson, GT Leo Gaje, the Tortals...and anyone who did the 100 man kyokushin kumite. Apideh should've been on the list too. They missed out on a world of people.

I agree that the list is bullsh*t, but it's worth having a peek at Geoff Thompsons book 'Watch My Back'

http://www.geoffthompson.com (it's on amazon too). IMO It's a good read.

He was coaching guys NHB long before anyone had heard of the gracies here in the UK. His guys were fighting in events like 'Night Of The Samurai' in the 90's -

The industry pioneer in UFC, Bellator and all things MMA (aka Ultimate Fighting). MMA news, interviews, pictures, videos and more since 1997.

Some of his principles (especially 'the fence') are used & taught in self defense classes all over the UK. True, he's not in the same league as the Gracies, but not a fake either...

The point of my post is that Geoff Thompson is real. I agree with you when you say that Geoff is an expert, but Helio had a lifetime experience of fighting on streets & beaches to pass down to his sons. Rickson in turn fought plenty on the street - the Gracies took on the task of cleaning the drugs gangs off of the beach in Rio (one of the most dangerous cities in the world). Both Rickson & Renzo have plenty of experience in that. Now look at Gracies in Action II - Ralek's fight in a back yard.

That's three generations of knowledge. That's a whole family of cousins & second cousins that have been involved in fighting. I'm not taking anything away from Geoff Thompson, but he hasn't got this breadth of experience, surely?

I'll just satisfy myself in the knowledge that the Gracies came from the UK originally
