I've got all the respect for Ken Shamrock in the world, but it might be about time he think about retiring.

    ...Yeeesh...!

      Tito!!

OTOH I was wondering if anybody watched the slow mo over and over again like I'm doing--how many of those elbows do you think actually got in? Was he really limp or was he moving to try to do something else? He did move his head over after the first couple of elbows...

          Naaaw, really?

I have a friend who's even worse though...

But seriously, do you think the ref should have stopped it that early after looking at the slo-mo?

But as you can see I am arguing on Ken's behalf. I thought the ref may have called too soon. I figure if all of those elbows really landed he wouldn't have been able to stand up so quickly...

I just wanted to see 'em fight longer is all.

Ya think he might have called it too soon...geeesh, if Herb isn't fired after that BS I'd be surprised! They practically let Yves bleed to death in the first fight and he wasn't even fighting back or anything at certain points...just covering up...but they let that go and won't let the world's most dangerous man get a scratch on his face, ridiculous, inexplicable. They always stop the most important ones too soon, but let the undercards leave it all in the cage. It should be the other way around.

In the last Andre VS Silvia fight (not the one this past Saturday, that wasn't a fight, they were just sparring) when Silvia knocked down Andre, and gave him a few whacks, that could have been let go a bit longer, he had turned his head away and could have struggled out, he was in no immediate danger of having his face caved in.

In the Gracie VS Hughes...c'mon, I know Hughes was dominating, but there were 12 seconds left in the round! And not all of those shots were landing, let him weather the storm, let him start the second round on equal ground again and if the same thing happens, call it, but at least we get to see the fight continue and maybe Royce could have pulled a rabbit out of his shorts (ok put it back!).

So yeah, they stopped Tito and Ken way too quick and seem to be doing that with the high profile fights lately (probably for PR, don't want everyone to think the sport is too violent). But how about some consistency, poor Yves...looked like he was starring in a stage production of Carrie.

Alternate explanation: Dana recently has been getting more and more sick of Ken...he probably told Herb Dean to give the fight to Tito at the first opportunity just to piss off Ken!!

Overall...the worst UFC in a long time.

Well I thought it may have had something to do with all that stuff Tito said, I mean didn't he say something about wanting to send someone (i.e. Shamrock) to the hospital for a long time? Maybe they thought he was serious and were being super-vigilant? I mean if they hadn't stopped it Ortiz still would have won and it wouldn't have been pretty...

I guess I just have always assumed that 90% of anything said pre-fight is just for show/publicity and after-fight is just a way to work off excess adrenaline and that a lot of it is "fake" for lack of a better word. Who knows.

exactly, all of those elbows were landing and Ken was just laying there. While I would have liked to have seen Ken beaten to a bloody pulp I dont think there was any question that Herb did the right thing. It just didn't make for entertaining viewing.

Well when I watched the slow motion it didn't look like all those elbows landed, coupled by the fact that Shamrock got right back up without even being very wobbly. The first elbow landed and the second elbow hit the top of Shamrock's head, then he actually moved around and moved his face, and the last three didn't hit on target either (shoulder, top of head, one actually looked like he missed--and if you look at Shamrock's face it didn't look like he took a hit to the face...) Also in slow motion SHamrock looked like he was trying to move to do something, he didn;t look limp, even though he wasn't protecting his face.

UFC has gone downhill and is getting worse, now you cant hit the guy in the back? WTF, no kicking when someones down, no elboes when standing. 5 minute rounds. im sick of it, it isnt even MMA anymore, its almost WWF. How can you submit someone in 5 minutes? ITs not easy and we dont see it that often, it makes guys have to stay on their feet and avoid the ground unless they totally own the guy on the ground. Pride is wayyyyy better far as Im concerned
