    What this all about ?
A friend told me this is like NHB with football(allowing punches & so-forth)
    Is this for real?

I am not a football fan-probably the only guy in America who did not watch the superbowl(and could care less)
Just interested in seeing what this is all about since I love combat sports(Boxing,Wrestling,Kick-Boxing,Judo,Muay-Thai,BJJ & NHB fighting)

    Uh, not really like NHB.

Just good ole' football with some of the rules removed that Vince McMahon believes watered down the game, e.g., no fair catch (GOT to see that!) and no quarterback-in-the-grasp rules. Sounds like a lot of injuries waiting to happen, that's what it sounds like.

All the players will be miked, as will the cheerleaders--who, by the way, will be encouraged to date the players. So if, for instance, the quarterback throws an interception, they can cut to his girlfriend on the sidelines and start asking her if she'll still want to be with him after an embarrassment like that.

It's a cross between WWF, NFL and FX's Toughman, with a touch of Jerry Springer thrown in.

That I do not know. That is an interesting point... I guess that's entirely possible.

Why watch XFL whatever that is. The NFL has got all the punching facemasking you will need to see. Look how many fights broke out last night in the superbowl.

I don't know if it's going to fail, man. You've got NBC and Vince McMahon behind it... we might all be surprised.

Here's all the info you need (plus some links to the Cheerleader videos ) It's basically like what Tony10 described (they even allow the endzone celebrations!! I don't know why that's such a big deal, though). I seriously doubt it will be fixed. It's just gonna be like the world league stuff they tried to pass off on us a while back, only this time they seem to be targeting the Xshow, and Man Show audiences only.

The no fair catch rule is gonna get someone hurt. What is the no quarterback-in-the-grasp rule? I don't normally watch football but I'll check this out.

that's why the xfl has a good chance of succeeding. they won't get all of the nfl fans, but they WILL be getting a lot of new viewers who don't already watch football, plus all the millions...and millions of the wwf's fans.
they're not out to beat the nfl, or even compete with it for that matter. that's why they're on in the off season.
